That's why Max Fleischer continued to film the body of his cartoons in black and white until he was forced out of his own studio in January 1942. Famous Studios- Paramount's successor to Fleischer Studios- continued to film the Popeye series in monochrome until 1943, when they introduced an "all-Technicolor" production schedule.

I don't think *anyone* abided by the rules of the game. The lead cat sings "When I say "hold it", everybody hold!" But they don't freeze when he says "Hold it", they freeze when he says "everybody hold!" (or just "stop!")

Wow! This restoration is incredible! The sound quality is amazing and even the picture and color stay very true to the original animation cels. Great job to the restoration team behind this one! And even the cartoon itself, I must say, it's surprisingly very good! Probably one of the funniest 30s cartoons I've seen in a long time, with a strong sense of comedic timing and creative usage of gravity. I can imagine the Looney Tunes creators like Chuck Jones and Friz Freleng took a lot of inspiration from cartoons like this.
