Good advice, every bit of it. One other thing I've good do. Everything has to come to a stop. It's more mental than it is physical but when a fella hits anchor everything has to be rock solid. Don't second guess yourself. Just concentrate on your spot, bring her back, hit anchor, hit rock solid and let her rip and follow through. Most natural and enjoyable way to shoot a bow. Reason I like your channel is I agree with about everything you've been teaching and it's archery in the purist form. I love it.

Great advice...my serious advice for target panic is literally this. You will never ever get completely past it. But with age. Experience....and when you get to the age and time you dont care anymore you will kill darn near everything.....lol im being serious......well for myself.......i hardly miss now because im not all excited......also.....99 percent of us are split vision......

I had forgotten that quote from J.S. Having TP makes doing it right difficult. I'm a 27" draw but I think when my TP was at its worst I was drawing about 24". Very good point about consciously thinking about the anchor and then missing. We can only concentrate on one thing at a time. It makes sense that the focus should be on the spot we want to hit instead of the mechanics of form.

I still struggle with my shot process. Never used to be a problem but seems like I am always searching for something consistent and accurate. Thanks for sharing brother.

Figured I'd ask on your latest video. What are your thoughts on rattling in bucks?? Pros cons? Is it a strategy you've used in the past? Successful unsuccessful? Maybe you can squeeze in a short opinion about it in a later video

The hardest thing is learning how to actually focus on a spot. a very specific spot, a very small spot. aim tiny and miss tiny. When I used to bowfish hard, I finally realized that I was mainly shooting at the fish or whatever. After I forced myself to learn to shoot tiny objects, I began picking my spot very quickly without thought about it. Then, in bowfishing, many shots are fast and furious, forcing me to shoot a lot faster. I shot very fast and usually nailed whatever it was I was shooting at, much to the surprise of others shooting with me. Very few times to actually stop and aim, pretty much snap shooting but it was pretty mean shooting. Helped me also very much with moving targets as others found out as well. Focus, focus, focus. Just like throwing a baseball to someone, do whatever it takes to get it there. I shoot at dried beans from just a foot or so away until it is automatic then begin slowly working my way backwards. Master the very close then work your way backward. if you want to get even better, shoot flies first stopped on the ground and then while moving. If you can hit beans out to 12 yards or so, a pig is like an elephant. And Amen, keep the Lord first, Keep em coming Brother

I am still fighting target panic as well. Been working on holding and letting down. It’s amazing how hard it is to simply not shoot. On a good note, I’ve never had target panic with an animal

So many people have ingrained in their mind that they MUST draw, then hold at anchor while they line up a shot or "aim". Most shooters will begin to shake after just a couple of seconds. Then the bow moves more and they take even longer to line up. By then, the bow arm and shoulder are getting weak and dropping or the draw arm is giving way causing a sinking anchor. All of this causes a bad shot. I believe, for the traditional bow, yours (via Hill and Schulz) is the correct way to shoot. Other than the gap, This is exactly the way I shoot. Never had target panic.

I like the info, but I'm right-handed and have to shoot left because of bad vision in right eye. I went thru a ton of options before being able to adapt to one I could consistently hit my target.

People have been trying to figure this target panic stuff out for a long time. Likely thousands of years. I recommend at least looking at Joel Turner's work and keeping an open mind. Just get his book and learn about the science of whats going on in your brain and the why behind target panic. Just a friendly suggestion, because I have a shooting style that I use for my selfbows that allows me to not hold the bow back, draw to same draw length EVERY time and still have a surprise break without a clicker on my bow. I can go into more detail if you would like. Just let me know!

This is great info What you are doing is true instinctive to me Some people are aiming down the arrow and you can see them hold for a few seconds What you are doing is keeping your eyes on the spot and your eyes are telling your hand where to aim If you keep your eyes on that spot your hands will hit the spot The trick for me shooting a compound and the pins are floating around the bullseye I keep my eyes on the spot not the pin and trust it Even if I’m floating around it moves less if I keep my eyes focused It’s like throwing a rock and relates to traditional more than anything else

Rc you have to blank bale at 22 feet the bale at shoulder height with no target just look at bale no aiming get to anchor as fast as possible it takes time lots of shoots constantly working on form.

I’ve been thinking of trying snap shooting because I’ve developed arthritis in my string hand and can’t hold at anchor anymore. It’s going to be a big change for me. For a long time I’ve drawn to anchor then picked my spot and expanded until my bh touched my knuckle and then shot. Basically like shooting a clicker. I’ve got real good at it but that long hold time is not helping my arthritis. Thanks for the tips.

And with a stiffer glove and a true hill John back quiver it’s all part of the system of the swing draw to work don’t forget that .
@robertcarte958 ай бұрын
The back quiver is nice but it don't work where I hunt in the thickets. They are cool though. I carry a pack and hunt miles from the truck and field quarter any hog or deer I get. Too old for dragging one.
@allenbaisden8 ай бұрын
Yes I know but the quiver becomes part of you and wood arrows cut to net draw length also part of the swing draw style
