That is exactly how Jesus is. Even when we are going through trials and temptations, He says "Fear not. I will fight for you. I will light your way. Through all of it, I will see you through. Just give me your hand, and hold on to me." That is what we need to do. In our time of sorrows and regrets, we shouldn't question Him or turn our back on Him. We need to trust Him. We need to take His hand and just hold on to Him. He has never turned his back on us. Why should we do it to him?
