Here's a funny story...I was in my church band and some years ago during the pastor's sermon he made the statement pertaining to the sermon, "you have to hold on loosely...anyone remember that song"...and I broke into the intro on my guitar and and people along with the pastor burst out into laughter!!

This song is 40 years old as I write this. Maybe the sounds on Wild Eyed Southern Boys is dated, but the material is ageless. What a great interpretation this is! True to the original, and a great tribute to the guitar talent that is Jeff Carlisi. Overlooked and underrated.

What I like about this band is they nail it. The singer is so versatile, he sings many top 40 songs. They have different musicians filling in for different songs. Their all all top notch. Great job, I really enjoy them. Imagine if they they they had their own hits!!!

The first time I learned to play this song as a teenager I had it figured out before the end...but...the difference between getting it 90% right and this, is huge! This is the best cover I've ever seen and my go to now to practice it in my old age.

OMG. Mind. Blown. Wow. This is one of my Top 5 songs of ALL TIME, and this is the singular best cover of it I have ever heard / seen. Just amazing. The musicianship on this track is stunning, in my opinion. That Les Paul is singing out. But everyone on this did a phenomenal job. Wow. I mean... I'm mesmerized by this one. Ok, like everyone else I loved the song and musicianship BUT...what no one talks about is he videography and editing. As a photographer, I love how the band was set up. The tight shots on highlighted notes was spot on. I'm guessing a flycam was used since the picture is so stable. Loved the tight shot on the last note! Great song, great cover, great photography.

Interesting comments on KZbin from 38 Special lead guitarist Jeff Carlisi who said the opening riff was heavily influenced by the Cars’ Just What I Needed, which came out two or three years earlier. Never had correlated the two songs, other than I loved both of them.

Ya gotta have that Gibson sound to do southern rock..... especially the Florida Southern rock!!!!😁👍😎❤️ Fender guitars, even with humbuckers, just don't sound the same. JMHO. I play both, but Gibson gets it done. Great cover, guys!!!! Super job!!!!

Interesting comment. I pretty much agree with you. Now, the every day joe in a club would never realize the tonal intricacies that different guitars have. That's why there are so many variations of such a simple, straight forward instrument as guitar.

I've noticed that too. The OLD guitars sound the best. The newer ones just don't have the same sound, unless you shell out several k dollars...or modify the ones that you already have...

@@pg1171 I have a 1992 Gibson Les Paul..... nowhere near the most stunning Les Paul you've ever seen ( you can see small knots in the maple top), beautiful tobacco sunburst finish though, but it's the best sounding Les Paul (plugged in or not) that I've ever heard. Others tell me the same thing. Why I could never understand mail ordering a guitar. From one to another, they can look the same, & sound night and day different from one to another. Douglas Holden, Jr. every rule has its exception. Sweet Home Alabama, probably the most famous southern rock song by the most famous Florida southern rock band, is a strat song.

@@billyv321 A classic Skynyrd song!!!! Yes.....on a Strat. You can tell by the "thin" sound. Was the perfect guitar for that song. Solo was also on a Strat.....I could tell at 12 yrs old hearing it on the radio that it was a Strat. Strats have there place, most definitely, my friend, but most southern rock was played on Gibson guitars. It's such a more fuller sounding guitar. I also play Telecasters, but prefer my Les Paul. Just my preference, sir. Just never liked strats that much, but they definitely have there place. Cheers, my friend and have a great weekend. 👍😁😎
