I just started playing Pokemon TCG Pocket and now I'm interested in getting into the actual TCG via Pokemon TCG Live because Pocket is too simple. Are these Expansion sets basically new Pokemon cards? How often do Expansions come out (e.g. once a year or something)?

Pokémon TCG sets usually release like 4-5 sets a year. Yes I’m serious. They have two types. Main sets which have booster boxes and they usually do a “high class” or “special” sets and those DONT have booster boxes. Example: 151 is a special set, as well as the upcoming prismatic evolutions! Main sets: twilight masquerade, paradox rift, surging sparks.

@ I see, thank you for the info 😊 I just read about the 151 set earlier, can’t believe it came out last year! That would’ve been good to buy, I’m guessing it’s mostly being scalped online now?
