You may still be able to salvage that other 'J' block with the cracked walls. I remember reading in "street Machine' magazine years ago, about a couple guys that bought an FJ from a guy. it had a heap of work done to it, but the Grey motor needed assembly. for some reason they decided to crank the motor over slowly once they had the head on, and could hear a knocking sound. apparently it had been bored right out, so far that the block needed sleeves fitted, as they had punched out into the water jackets. the knocking sound was from the pistons hitting the edges of the standard head gasket, and they needed a special custom cut one made to suit. I cant recall if the sleeves were welded or simply pressed in.
