Thanks Murph for mentioning Larry Perkins as one the iconic Holden men. To me, Larry is the icon. I was at Bathurst 1992 and still remember the sound of Larry coming up mountain straight in the shoot out. All other Comodores were running chess. But Larry still ran his beautiful sounding Holden V8.

Here in the United States, we have the GTO/HOLDEN... Love the car. I've followed the Australian V/8 Super Cars for years and as a racer and machinist know theres nothing better than an Aussie Head... LOL WERE GONNA MISS THE HOLDEN BRAND.

I grew up in a Holden family and can still remember sitting around a black and white TV watching Brockie win in 1972. Naturally my first car was a HR Premier. My second was a HG Brougham.......God what a lemon that was. Just leave it at the servo and take it out for breakdowns LOL. So I had a couple of Falcons, they were okay. I had some Valiants too, loved them for the awesome power they had. But the one that sticks out in my mind most was my HQ Kingswood. Nothing over the top, just a 202 column auto with a bench seat. But it just looked so good and made me smile every time I walked towards it to get in. I wasn't the only one either cos they made over 500,000 HQ's How they could go from that to the mess they found themselves in leading to them being canned forever is unbelievable.

As a ford fan, I'm with larko, Holden goes out on top, it's now never the same and that's what we all have lost.. No red and blue eyes to eye fight anymore..🇦🇺

I remember years ago when i was about to put my Holden on the market. I took it to the Holden dealer service department and told them to give it a thorough service as i wanted it to leave a good impression with potential buyers. One buyer had a thorough look under the bonnet, and noted that the fan belt needed changing, the fluids needed changing, the radiator fluid was low, several hoses worn out, etc. I'd just paid a dealer to rectify all this for a large sum of money, yet i got the car back with virtually nothing done. As the saying goes:- when you want something done properly, just do it yourself. At present, i do exactly that. If my situation wasn't unique, then i feel no sorrow for Holden or anyone associated with it. Their cars and dealer network just repeatedly failed me. I now drive a Corolla, and aside from regular servicing, it's never been out of action.

I put on twitter 3 months before the announcement of Holden’s demise . They certainly had a incredibly close relationship with CAMS & Supercars over the years . The only problem was Holden supporters wore their shirts but didn’t drive their cars.

@@stevengriffin7873 stellar cars. I was going to get a Calais with the l67 from my next door neighbours last Monday but as they were originally going to trade it in to a dealer, now that they have changed their mind the dealer won’t let go of the car. I really want it as the car has been thrashed and not taken care of and I want to restore it over the holidays. My parents also used to own the at car but had to sell it when we had 6 people in our family. I cared for it as much as I could while it was in my neighbours hands.

The thing about Holden is it's truly Australian. Sure Ford has had the Aussie Falcon, unique to Australia, but the Holden brand is an Australian brand.
