Great video, in fact all your videos are great and very informative, but it would be great to see videos of the work actually being done. Also can you show where you tapped into the rear of the heads?

Thx griff excellent video mate. Nothing like one of these vids to re focus our minds to what actually matters! I will be following your lead with my own build.

Thank you for the info. I didn't think about going to a hydraulic shop I'll check that out.

Great vid. My car (308)gave me headaches with a faulty oil pump. (STD holden) As you say, the oil fills rocker covers, does not drain back fast enough, and with blow by, pressurises the crank case, pops the gasket. Since changing it out no more issues. No drain backs in mine,, with I had done them as a precaution. No runs sweet and a test in December will hopefully confirm what one previous test showed.

Group A SS Commodore VK 308 V8 Glad you got it sorted.. maybe set up a camera to take footage of oil pressure gauge.. That was the only way i knew trouble was brewing cheers mate....

@@griffsrearmountturbothemod1623 hi Jay. Thinking about the oil mods to number 4 cam journal and number one cam journal. Am I correct in assuming the hole you drill in 1 and tap in 4 are at a slight angle?? Otherwise getting in there impossible. I’m doing all of those mods on mine, but just want to be 💯 percent before I start.

Hi Griff, im a huge fan mate! Can you tell me pls with the scavenge pump from the heads does it run all the time from start up? Its seems fantastic ideal pulling oil out of heads at hi rpm, would it be sucking a heap of air into the sump when engine is at lower rpm? Cheers Ash
@griffsrearmountturbothemod16233 жыл бұрын
Yes it runs all the time while engine is running, not a issue at all while at cruising speed or idling. I have had no issues with oil starvation since increasing oil pan capacity combined with scav pump out of heads. Thanks mate👍

You must have hundreds of dollars is braided stainless lines. Do you mind me asking where you purchased them.
@griffsrearmountturbothemod16236 жыл бұрын
David carroll a local hydraulic supply business called Hydraquip.. the braided line isnt that expensive around 20 dollars a metre,.. But the fittings are were you get stung on average say a 90 bend around 70 dollars, soon ads up...

Do sealed catch can setups work on carburettor setups? If they do it would compliment your scavenging pump. Vacuum in the sump adds more power and better piston ring sealing
@griffsrearmountturbothemod16236 жыл бұрын
Wade Munyard The idea of a breather/ catch can iis to allow engine to vent, but in the process it tends to spit oil out. Catch can recovers oil and sends it back with a drain back pipe.. You could run a sealed system with vacuum pump, i have seen na drag engines run it, when every horse power matters...

GRIFFS REARMOUNT TURBO, The Modfather I’m in the middle of making a sealed one at the moment. I was running a setup like yours on my turbo 5 litre worked well. I hate the smell of the open to atmosphere ones
@griffsrearmountturbothemod16236 жыл бұрын
Wade Munyard correct me if I'm wrong, are you going to vent it in the down pipe ?
@wademunyard90266 жыл бұрын
GRIFFS REARMOUNT TURBO, The Modfather no. I’ll have 2 feeds into the can and 2 outlets. 1 outlet goes to the turbo intake and the other goes to the plenum with a 1 way valve. At idle and under boost it’ll creat a vacuum. I’ll also be running a drain back to the sump with a 1 way valve to make the system maintenance free

It’s essentially the same way a factory vl turbo is setup but I’m factoring in a catch can and return for the oil
