Some of the best pb players at my local city rec courts are these tall, bulky, middle aged white dudes with dad bellies and dad arms who barley move but they have such amazingly seemingly effortless reflexes and accuracy, they don’t *need* to move and there play reminds of this guy. We had a potluck picnic brunch once, one of them literally played with a mimosa in one hand!?

Yeah, that’s part of the NON-“elitism” of pb vs. tennis, golf, etc. (ALL genders, ages, levels, socioeconomic statuses, etc. playing together). Btw: 1. “Sig better” equipment *should* be either required or banned, otherwise, by *definition*, it’s not fair. And if it’s not *really* “sig better”, then you shouldn’t be buying it. 2. Allowing sig better equipment makes a travesty of new “records” (or even just a win or even points if not all players are using the same sig better equipment). 3. Put a (*reasonable*) retail $s cap (adjusted for inflation) on equipment so everyone can afford it. 4. Ya ain’t a “REAL” pickballah ‘less you can win wif a NOname CARBON nutin’ WOOD paddle wif no STINKIN’ grit, vent, overgrip or lead tape. “I said wat I said.”

This made me laugh out loud - this is a perfect illustration of a curling bonspiel. You think the other team (Canadians of course) are too wasted to even stand up on the ice and they then commence to totally clean up on you. My (American) husband always tells people the reason I (a Canadian) loved to curl so much is it is the only sport you can play with a broom in one hand and a beer in the other. I think now I may need to start playing pickle ball. Only change from this is a Bloody Caesar instead of a Mary 😂

Funny and so true. Never judge a book by it's cover. Years ago when my wife and I were in our forties and still very athletic in other sports (volleyball, softball and kickball), heard they were having a pickleball tourney in our town. Learned the rules, watched the videos, practiced a little over the weekends before. Show up and most of the teams were little ol' ladies in their 60's and 70's. Have to admit, thought we would walk through them. Those little ol' ladies then proceeded to mop the court the court with us all day. It was still a lot of fun. If your on the fence, give the game a try. Addicting sport.

Great video! As an avid pickler, I've watched/shared this multiple times and still get a good laugh! If you do another one maybe consider a video about teaching new people how to play with some of the, "less than straightforward" pickleball rules. For example, teaching the volley serve with the requirements of being "an upward arc", "contact must be below the waist" and "highest point of the paddle head shall be below the wrist when it strikes the ball". Also there's the kitchen line being OUT of bounds on the serve but the other lines are inbounds, etc. Might be fun material there. Regardless, keep it up!
