I'm not a car dealer but I can't understand why anyone would buy a car unseen, ie not having checked it over from bumper to bumper? I'm a competent diy mechanic (can do it all up to and incl timing belts!) and I went out to find a first car for my daughter back in August. The few dealers I went to objected to me getting under the car to check for tin worm on the chassis and plugging my diagnostics tablet into the obd port. Naturally the cars they didn't want me checking so closely had numerous issues. So I went and bought privately and spent an hour checking the soon to be purchased car thoroughly. Found a few small issues like worn track rod ends to get a few quid off the price but I ended up with a great little car for my daughter. Then I watch videos like this and High Peak Autos where cars are bought unseen and turn out to be near or total lemons??? Btw, if that injector was open constantly and sending unburnt fuel out through the exhaust, that will damage or ruin the catalytic convertor. C'mon, you guys should know better.
@sarcastixx744 ай бұрын
That will be hard to shift if there is no evidence of the rod bearings and throttle actuators ever being done. Not massively expensive but could eat around 75% of that profit if a buyer had to come back with it not long after purchase. Bearings around 2k to swap out and actuators around 1.5k. Think there is a repair kit for the actuators though so could be a bit cheaper than the OEM fix. That 750 quid tax is a dealbreaker for me though, my C7.5 RS6 is only half that! It's what also put me off M5's too when I was in the market earlier this year.

That £4K margin could easily wiped out by rod bearings and throttle actuators. The E9X M3 is a great car but brittle. I ran one for 2 years but it was a case of any new noise scared me senseless.

The mechanics told me even if I fixed the injector, the fuel dump in the exhaust would mean it would've damaged the cat and fail the mot.
