@@davidferguson9673 I have a Toyota Tacoma which is a plastic tank nowhere near the muffler so far it's been holding 4 months no problem whatsoever, however I used to screw in plug so all I did is have to seal the plug in the area around it. I don't see any problems developing from this, I do most of my own mechanic work myself and consider myself a better mechanic than most. A Tacoma gas tank is about $1,000 if you can find them. Cut out a patch out of the side wall of a cheap plastic gas container 4x the hole's diameter. I knew that would not melt. Put it over the hole using gasoline-resistant sealant like Seal-All or a 2 part epoxy resin like JB Weld. Check it once in a while, though. Gasoline resistant is not gasoline proof. There is always the possibility of a leak. But it will get you back on the road until you have the time and $$$$ to replace the gas tank

How did it hold up? I had a hole on the top if my tank from when I bought it. Crazy. There was jb weld already on it but it wasn't holding pressure and tripped the engine light, same code has faulty gas cap (tank not holding pressure). I removed. Cleaned and replaced with better jb weld. Said it would work on plastics and with gasoline. It worked for a while but is now leaking air and a little gas again. Im to the point where I've gotten all the old jb weld off again and the tank is off the vehicle. This time I'm thinking of, first obviously remove any remaining fuel, then clean good with water, let dry. Then attempt to weld the hole closed with a soldering iron and small amount scrape edge tank plastic material over hole. Either that or a nylon bolt with rubber washer, either tap out the hole or remove fuel pump to reach hand inside tank, put nylon bolt with rubber washer coming from inside, going out the hole, with another rubber washer and nylon nut on outside. Possibly thread the hole aswell and use some sort of pvc pipe glue that will fuse the nylon bolt and plastic tank hole together. Anyways any takes?

My tank is made of plastic but I can't tell you if it's made of polyethylene or not.

J-B weld does't work good on gas tanks, there are better things you can use that works better.

Maybe but in my case to this day is working well.

Silent movies died with Charlie Chaplin. What an incredibly boring video.

i have tried this system this system is fail.

Hello mir haider . What exactly failed? You could explain so that people who see this video and read your comment understand. Did you clear the surface? You sanded it with sandpaper? Did you use the same epoxy? Did it cure enough? You had the empty tank when you tried. Do you leave the tank cover open or closed during cure?...

I've actually heard from a few people that JB Weld doesn't work consistently
@MindScraper6 жыл бұрын
If you can test on another type container or tank. Sometimes hear only what other people say not the most assertive. First of all ask these people how they were applied. Did they follow the instructions? Did they wipe the surface badly? Did they pass any sandpaper? All I can tell you is that I did what is in the video. Until today I had no problems. Maybe in a future video I'll show you how the tank is.

@MartinHunter Nemisis Exactly. The key is to scuff with very rough sandpaper and even score it a bit. As long as the surface is 100% free of oil/gas (use brake cleaner) it will stick beautifully.

did you have to empty the tank first or you worked as is ?I have a light dripping issue Is there a difference between a gas tank leakage and motor oil leakage?
@MindScraper5 жыл бұрын
In my case the hole was in the lowest place of my tank. So it was empty. But whatever the situation, the important thing is that the application area is dry and without moisture.
