I saw a similar fix. I think it was on Looney Tunes back in the day. This guy just took his chewing gum and plugged a hole that water was leaking out!

@@TheGaginator I didn't think about using a bolt.. I'm going out later today for more scrubbing/prep and then I'll hunt down a big-enough bolt or self tapping screw for my truck gas tank. Problem for me is hole is where tank strap is so eventually a new tank is in the 4x4 truck future. But great video!

It was just a random bolt that fit in the hole, Everyone will likely need a different type.

I had two holes a little less than 1/4” in diameter. I did not use any bolts, just that same JB weld steel stick. Tried to push some of it up inside the holes and then covered them over an area around one inch in diameter and I also feathered out the edges because I felt like it would have less of a chance of peeling off over time/better adhesion. I guess my question is.. if you know… would it have been better to use some kind of plug, in your case a bolt… to push into the holes, first? And then do what you did? Or do you think I’ll be alright just solely using the steel stick putty? I guess I’ll find out either way… wish I could wait 24 hours but can only afford 2 or 3 hours tops. Only for a short drive though. Then it will sit over night. Hopefully it will Hold, this is the first video I have watched where someone used a bolt like that. But your hole was also atleast twice the size of mine. Any guidance would be greatly Appreciated. And will let you know if the short Curing time/no bolt works or not once I find out tomorrow!!!

Would this work on the “staked” plugs on a Holley Carburetor Fuel Bowl? Looks like they used something that is gray and now it’s leaking and spraying gasoline out. I need something to re-plug those so I can drive my car.

You should use a bolt that is similar in size to the hole in your tank
