Every year I grill a whole tenderloin for Christmas Eve. I also make twice baked potatoes and a salad. I put out a charcuterie board to snack on while waiting for the food to cook. We have cookies and gelato for dessert. On Christmas Day we cut up the rest of the tenderloin and serve it on garlic crusty bread. Everyone brings a dish and we enjoy visiting with family and friends. BTW, this card is absolutely stunning!

Love this card so much! But the music is just as awesome - I heard a bassoon during “Auld Lang Syne” and it reminded me so much of my band years during high school - that was a very, very long time ago. It is amazing what you hear in music when you really listen! My favorite holiday dinner is on Christmas Eve when we have Mexican food - enchiladas, tamales, guacamole, refried beans, the whole 9 yards - with sopapillas and honey for dessert! YUM!

Another gorgeous card, Kristina!! My perfect holiday meal would have to include all of the amazing dishes my mother made every Christmas Eve. We had a house full of family and made wonderful, lasting memories. Appetizers would include stuffed mushrooms, shrimp with cocktail sauce and dill dip with veggies. Dinner would include Korv (a Swedish sausage), Swedish Meatballs and my father’s secret recipe baked beans. Dessert would include trays of handmade Christmas cookies and Snow Pudding with custard (another Swedish tradition). I was so blessed to grow up all my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins nearby. We spent every Christmas Eve together for so many years. My grandfather always used to say, with a tear in his eye, that all he ever wanted was to see his family together. Enjoy your holiday, Kristina!!

So lovely, Kristina!! Christmas meal... doesn't all go together but the memories are what make it special... as a child, Christmas Eve we'd stay up late snacking on nuts, cheeses & Merkt's cheese spread, crackers, summer sausage type platter (long before charcuterie boards were so popular but that's what it looked like) and then we'd go to midnight mass. Christmas dinner evolved into ham, Mom's delicious mashed potatoes, squash, green beans (I'm not a fan of green bean casserole but the rest of them love it so... it remains tradition). Sometimes there were other things depending on who was with us. Dessert... I'm not a fan of any of the traditional ones so if we were at Grandma's, she made banana cream just so I could have dessert too. Gramps would always have some of "Lisa's pie", telling me it was his favorite too (we all knew ALL pies were his favorite, but I got to feel a little special). If we were at home, we made cherry cream cheese pie... sometimes with different topping (rasp or even apricot). Ohhhh the memories. Thanks for the beautiful trip down memory lane!

Traditional for us, roast turkey, glazed ham, roast vegetables, gravy, with steamed beans and broccoli with white sauce. We live in Auckland, NZ and even though it’s summertime here at Christmas we still enjoy the traditional Christmas dinner! For dessert it’s Christmas pudding, custard and cream, pavlova and fresh strawberries and whipped cream and Christmas mince tarts. Beautiful card and I thank you for introducing me to Iuile watercolors a couple of yrs ago. Still love them!! My dad's bday is Xmas Day. In our family, we always got to choose the meal for our birthday, so we always had steak, baked potatoes and a nice salad for Xmas dinner. Now that I am married, if we're with my parents for the day itself (every other year), that's still what we have. If we're w/ my hubby's side, it varies. His parents always had a big tenderloin of beef w/ some form of potatoes and green bean casserole or a salad - so, pretty similar all the way around. Thanks again for the tip to look for Iuile and thanks for all these fabulous tutorials. We really do appreciate you, Kristina! Lori S in PA

Dinner would be a prime rib roast, mashed potatoes & gravy, frog-eye salad (not at all what it sounds like) & homemade (by someone else :) rolls. What a gorgeous card Kristina! I have the Stonehenge black watercolor paper and it is a bit delicate, so I do appreciate knowing about a sturdier paper. As a life long resident of the Pacific Northwest, my favorite Christmas meal has always been seafood. Shrimp cocktails or shrimp salad followed by fresh boiled Dungeness crab dipped in garlic butter accompanied by garlic bread. Too satiated for a 3rd course lol! Now that I live in Idaho, those treats are a harder to find (and afford!) but I'm sure my inventive husband, the cook in our household, will come up with something good.

A watercolor artist I’m subscribed to uses painter’s tape doubled back on itself (so it’s a loop that’s sticky on both sides) to secure her watercolor paper to her work surface, so she’s able to paint all the way to the edges wherever she wants. Maybe that would work for you, as well!

Melon balls in port as starter, then traditional turkey (cooked in butter and bacon, not so healthy but beautifully soft and hey, it's only once a year!), petits pois sweet peas, carrot&parsnip mash, broccoli, cauliflower, roast and steamed potatoes, stuffing (roasties and stuffing with a knob of the butter from the turkey which can be lifted off / separated from the meat juice after cooling) and gravy made with the meat juice, then either strawberry trifle or chocolate log, both with fresh extra thick double cream. Then I'll need a year of working up all off ready for next time!
