OMG 15 min for ME?! What a concept. I’m definitely going to make the slipover that Tracie made last year and I grabbed the pattern and all the Frankie Grey Fibres yarn and sequins … thank you for the push/encouragement/inspiration… see ya on the other side. UNSPUN PRO TIP: hand wind the unspun into little balls (max size of your fist) it keeps it from breaking so often. I would find when I knit from a plate it would break all the time and doing the little balls helped so much. Also holding the yarn double!

Really good timing.. needed you girlsbtoday, itnisntheb11th anniversarybof my grandson's death by a drunk driver. He was almost three and the driver was my sister. Needless to say, the trauma this caused within our family is unmentionable. Time makes it easier, but this day is always rough. Just know, you put a smile on my face

I love your knits today. I'm making a pullover with thin stripes like Jodi's cardigan, in the exact shade of Felted Tweed of Tracie's vest. (I took one look and said, hey, that's Felted Tweed, in Scree!) You're making me want to really get to grips with my sock machine, with all these delights you're showing!

Jodi they are going to get you up and moving right away after hip surgery. You don’t want it to freeze. Get yourself a basket, but make sure you are up and moving as recommended by your doctor. Maybe but the basket a few steps away. 😊 Also, I almost choked on my breakfast listening to Traci talk about balls. 😂😂😂

Jodi- ten years ago I had both my hips replaced - one in June, the 2nd one in November of 2014! Recovery was way less uncomfortable than what I’d been facing pain-wise on a daily basis! I met my deductible with the first surgery, so my husband and I like to say it was a BOGO deal for me! You’ll do fine, made me wish I’d had my surgeries sooner! 💕

Thank you ladies, always a pleasure and need more in this crazy world. Prayers everything goes well for you Jodi . My hubby had both knees done and I heard hips are a bit easier. Follow your Doctors orders and you will be a new woman. His first knee was 2012 and the second one just a year ago. Game changer on the second one, much advancements in how it is done. Not a pleasant surgery but nice to be a bit more pain free. Wishing you all the best! ❤

It’s shiny, it’s space-age, and it sets off security alarms at every airport!! Some call it annoying, I think of it as a chance to have one-on-one chats with TSA, so fun! Hi Tracy and Jodie. Love your show! I’m another long time cranker from Australia (I have 10 machines - British antiques mainly and 2 NZAKs). Thanks for showing your socks. I’ve never done afterthought heels with my cranked socks. There’s so much you can do with the CSMs.

You were talking about canned potatoes. We had a restaurant in the area that deep fried the whole canned potatoes, they are/were delicious. I really like to cook the sliced canned potatoes in butter until Kristy.

I had both hips replaced in 2021 August then October! I used a tote shoulder bag to carry my knitting etc around with me. I also kept my phone in a bag across the body. I used to swap activity every few hours. The first few days aren't much fun but after that it's fine and great from a crafting point of view. Good luck.

Thanks for the pattern inspo.and Jones Road feedback; I have been thinking about those products for some time, but I also have rosacea that's worse since the pre-menopause (oh joy). Oh to be feeling good in my skin and knitting...that would be the best holiday. Thanks for brightening my day--I love these episodes!

A little late watching your whole podcast: I love you girls always fun and inspiring. All the best with hip replacement Jodi and I highly recommend having some projects to work on post op. I’m recovering from a broken wrist and then a re-break to put a plate and screws in, the thing that’s kept me going and the best physio has been my knitting. I’m a continental knitter and for a short time I had to right hand knit 🤷‍♀️🙇‍♀️, it was worth the effort to just be able to knit and keep busy. I’m still a work in progress but things are going well.

Jodi- I was the same way at first with Nutiden- but now…. I’m hopelessly addicted. A friend gave me this advice and it was a game changer- wind little balls that you knit from. I know it seems like more work but they go fast and it’s somewhat fun. Plus if it breaks just start knitting it with the other strand- you don’t even need to wet it. My fav combo is a strand of unspun plus a strand of the suri alpaca/silk blend. Even my teenage daughter steals those sweaters.

I’ve knitted two sweaters now with Nutiden held together with a lace weight Alpaca strand by Holst garn. The Spring Fling by the Petiteknitter and the Obba sweater by Aegyoknit. They both are amazingly light but so warm. I do cast on much more loosely. I’m also doing the Arne & Carlos Stocking knit along at present. Arne & Carlos are as much fun in real life as they are on their show. I’ve been on two of their trips now.

Just want to say good luck on your surgery! I had 2 hip replacements last year just 4 months apart. The surgery is really a breeze -- youi'll be surprised. They had me up and walking the corridor hours after surgery. I had physical therapy 3 times a week for 3 weeks afterward and you will be surprised how fast you recover. Best of luck and happy recovery knitting!!

Hope your surgery is soon and goes well I am just back to work after my total knee surgery will admit the beginning was rough but follow your PT person (even though I think PT stands for pain and torture 😂) they are amazing people. I’m a nurse and was a big baby and put my surgery off for a year now I’m thinking why did I wait?? Good luck!! And man did I get some good knitting done in the 3 months I was off

Jodi, I had 2 hip surgeries. Make sure they teach how to get in and out of bed. Especially lifting the leg on surgery side. You can you a long belt with a loop at one end. Make sure you're sitting far enough back on the bed. Loop the foot and pull on belt in a lifting up motion. OR Use the foot of the good leg to hoist the other up. BTW, I'm getting full knee replacement end of November. Yikes. I'll be bionic woman.😅

Jodi! You have to make Big Love Cardigan by ANKestrick! Such an exciting construction piece. I LOVED knitting it. And it’s a very cozy worsted/aran weight piece. I wear it around the house and it was the perfect travel outer layer when I traveled to Rhinebeck last month. I used Lamauld by Camarose. It’s a bit scratchy on the bare neck, but a dream to wear otherwise.
