Not a great comedy, but this has a great scene with Doris Hare and Wilfred Brambell dancing!! Also Queenie Watts and Arthur Mullard are funny too!

He is actually Irish, so he’s using the accent that his nationality has bestowed upon him - however, when he was not playing Albert Steptoe, he spoke with a Received Pronunciation accent! I’m sure I have seen him in a film playing a Cornishman - and was even heard to speak authentic Cornish, AFAIK!

@Hammer4life i agree with you everyone must remember that on the buses was one of the most watched shows ever on tv people rushed home from work or didnt go out until on the buses was over plus they were much loved most comedys would give anything for the popularity that on the buses had and still has my children love it these days so carryonbaz you havent a clue what your talking about on the buses still makes me laugh unlike a lot of crap they call comedy these days

I can't think of any comedy show at produced so many cultural icons as ingrained in the UK psyche as On The Buses- Blakey is still the archetypal little Hitler, Jack the lecherous bad toothed lothario, Olive the fat frustrated ugly bird, Arthur the pompous saddo and Stan the inept chancer- utterly brilliant stuff
