Why doesn’t your video have a recipe and supply list? This video is not a tutorial. Please check out the helpful links above.
How do I get started in soapmaking? Start off by researching. Educate and then experiment. Be sure to follow all proper safety precautions. A great starting place is the beginner cold process soapmaking series by SoapQueenTV here on KZbin. You can then purchase all the supplies you need at Bramble Berry. Lovin Soap Studio also has a beginner series on KZbin.
Why don't you share your cold process soap recipe? Our recipe is proprietary. We are contractually obligated to keep our recipe a secret. I do occasionally share a test recipe. I highly recommend Bramble Berry, Lovin' Soap, and The Nerdy Farm Wife for free recipes. Those resources are a great starting point and then you can tweak your favorite recipe to make it your own.
Where do you buy your oils? We purchase our oils in bulk at Blossom Bulk, Soapers Choice, Jedwards International, and Wholesale Supplies Plus.
Where did you buy your molds? My husband builds all my wood molds. My silicone molds are from various suppliers.
Where did you buy your soap planer? My husband built the soap planer for me.
Where did you buy your soap cutter? We purchased our soap cutter at Bud’s Woodshop.
Where did you buy your soap loaf splitter? Our loaf splitter was purchased from Smith Creek Studio.
Where do you buy your soaping containers? My pitchers are from School Masters and my large plastic containers are from Webstaurant Store.
Where do you buy your fragrance oils? We purchase our oils from many different suppliers. We don’t have a one-stop-shop for all of our oils. We blend the majority of the fragrances we work with.
Where do you buy your colors? We buy our colors at Bramble Berry, Nurture Soap, and Mad Micas.
Where do you buy your coconut milk? I was buying So Delicious Organic Coconut Milk on Amazon but I think you all bought them out! Ha! I now buy Native Forest Organic Coconut Milk. Please don't buy them out. I need coconut milk. lol
Where do you buy your soap boxes? We usually buy our boxes from Wholesale Supplies Plus or Elements Bath and Body.
How do you design and print your labels? I use Adobe Photoshop to design my labels. I use full sheet labels and print with our HP Laser Jet Pro printer.
Where do you buy your packaging materials? We buy our packaging materials at various suppliers including Paper Mart, ULine, Nashville Wraps, Eco Enclose, and Amazon.
Do you give classes? No, I do not offer classes. However, if you need help, leave me a comment and I’ll see what I can do.
Why are the comments disabled on your older videos? Due to some very negative, hateful, and vile comments, I am no longer allowing commenting on older videos. The older videos seem to be the ones targeted. Newer videos may have approved comments for a time. I welcome decent, respectful comments.

Always a pleasure to hang out in your studio for a little while listening to you chat while you work. That was definitely a vivid yellow tint to the batter and I can see how someone would be a little freaked out by the immediate color change. Turned out beautifully in the end, though. Crisp, clear, and straight lines. I can practically smell it from here...lol.

That’s friggin gorgeous girl!!!!! I love it! Let me tell u hun I do my soap with Shea And it’s the Shea that is untouched it’s not decente , it’s organic and unrefined. It smells like musty licorice and it’s gray. But it’s phenomenal! And the cocoa butter I use it organic unrefined and I won’t remove the scent. It damages the properties. My cocoa butter is huge dark yellow chunks I don’t even get the chips because it does alter the cocoa butter. If u want to get the benefits of cocoa butter but not the color. Do half mango butter and use cacao butter!!! It’s really really light and it’s a higher grade cocoa butter! Try that ull love it!

Thank you! I just love to work with refined, deodorized cocoa butter. It's my favorite. Based on the saponification process, I find it debatable that many properties remain. Such as coconut oil plain is a moisturizer but in soap it's a cleanser. I still hold that it's just soap though...meant to cleanse and be rinsed off quickly. That's just my take on it. Plus, my bars are already supposed to retail for $20...they'd be even more expensive. Haha! I sell them at wholesale prices at $10.

If you're looking for a good place to get cocoa butter... may I recommend Baraka Shea Butter? I get the unrefined cocoa from them & it is a bit yellow (but I also use unrefined shea & avocado oil, so 🤷🏻‍♀️) but it isn't nearly that amber in color. Also, I can smell this through the screen, I swear. Mmmm peppermint.

It is good for sure! I don't mind it in that way at all. I have used unrefined cocoa butter a lot and it has never been his dark even. This purchase was for refined/deodorized cocoa butter and I didn't expect it to be so very dark. I am going to continue to use up the 75 lbs that I have left but I also have 350 lbs of my favorite available to use. I'm happy now.

Thank you! I am not sure of the model but I was using a Cuisinart. All of my small stick blenders are Cuisinart.

Thank you so much for this video - I love this soap and peppermint is one of my favorites for soaps and body lotions. As a newer soap maker, can you tell me how you achieve the white without the glycerin rivers?

Thank you Penny! I don't avoid the glycerin rivers all the time. My Cranberry Mint has some and the Christmas Coffee has a lot with batch. Typically, you can gel the soaps but look for them not to overheat. Reduce the water in your batch because the main thing to remember is the more water, the more crackles you may get. So if you have a lot of water in your batch already and add even more water to your white portion via your titanium dioxide, then it's probably going to get glycerin rivers. Typically you dissolve 1 teaspoon titanium dioxide in 1 tablespoon of distilled water. Well, I mix up more at a time and do say 12 teaspoons (4 tablespoons) of TD to only 8-9 tablespoons of water.

More than likely you’re measurements are off. Double check and make sure you’re measuring correctly as well as mixing your lye with oils completely! Best Wishes on your soap making!

You make such pretty soaps.when you put them in the molds how long do u wait before you remove them? Do I need a heating pad? If so for how long

Thank you! I don't need to use a heating pad because the molds are so large. They generate enough heat. I leave my soaps in the mold for 48 hours if I can. Sometimes longer if it's the weekend. These are big batches though and it takes a long time for them to cool down. If I unmold while they are warm, they tend to get more ash.

Hi Holly, I was wondering, when you make your embeds like the squares and round balls, so you use your usual soap recipe to make them, or do you use another, for example, a bastille recipe, if you don't mind me asking? I'm wanting to make some embeds, but not really sure which recipe to make them with, or if it even matters? Thank you.

I typically use my regular recipe if the embeds are going inside the batch. I want them to be the same, though extra cure time does still affect that. If the soap is going on the top, I still use my regular recipe but I usually don't use milk.

Holly.., love your soap. I made a peppermint striped soap and the really red mica I used bleed onto the white part. Where did you purchase your red mica? I need a red color that’s non bleeding. I need your help?

Thank you Lucy! I'll answer again here since other's may end up reading your comment with the same question. I used Trial by Fire mica/pigment blend from Nurture Soap. It's fantastic!

How long do you leave the first layer before it sets please as ive not achieved this as of yet

By the time I finished cleaning up after each layer, I only had to wait about 10 minutes. This fragrance/essential oil combination was rather slow to set up. It took about 2 hours total, maybe a bit over. When I make my rainbow soap, I can work on the next layer right away because the fragrance oil sets it up so fast.
