The whole time you were styling, I was thinking, that's not enough, not enough-there's not going to be enough hold and then...voila! Your hair looks so beautiful!! I did not realize this curly journey would reveal to me that I have a little control freak heart about the level of control that my hair products have! lol The next wash day, I am going to try the rake to clump method that you showed. My hair is going through something and you helped me discover that I think it does not need/want much added moisture and might need a protein. I'm trying to learn to manage that moisture/protein tension. I have almost always used drug store products (budget) and when they worked, I didn't consider what was in them. I am now. I would like to take better care of my curls, I think they are 2c/3a, low density, and high porosity. Thank you so much for presenting a one and done option styler!

Haha I get that a lot! Since my hair is fine, lower density, and healthy, I don't need much product. But most people definitely need more than I do. So many people struggle with letting go control and the need to have perfectly frizz free curls (which don't exit) so you're not alone. Good luck!

I forgot I had this gel! I really haven’t been styling that much but did liked it when I used it. I’m going to try it with innersense volume it’s a serum and very moisturizing. I’ll let you know how that works. xo

I ordered some of this gel. I love the other evolvh products but I haven't found a nice gel for super high humidity south so I am hoping this is the magic ingredient I need to make it work.

If you want to stick with EVOLVh, the Supercurl Cream and SmartCurl leave in are perfect. Their curls trial lit has both of those products along with shampoo and conditioner. Otherwise, use any leave in and cream to get that moisture in.

Did you ever tried Evolvhs UltraShine line (shampoo and conditioner)? I heard that they contain less moisture then the SmartCurl line but I could be wrong.

Yes, they are slightly less moisturizing.

This IS very interesting. 3 days with no frizz? Sounds delightful! I can't use leave-ins either and my hair is SUPER DRY. But all gels just don't "work" for me if I use leave-ins. (Tried lots) I have tried with super dooper hold gels, but they are just a Hassel to crunch out....then I get frizz anyway!!!! THANK YOU!

I mean, I didn't have "no frizz" but it was nice enough I didn't need to refresh. I got rained on yesterday and it did frizz, but I don't expect anything to work at that point lol

I ordered. I love their UltraRepair (only DC/Protein i can use). How to use if i need to damp style or is that out of pictures with this? Ha, I do the raking like you do only upright 😊. I have superfine low density 2bc3A hair. I microplop until after adding a *little bit* of Virtue curl whip style cream (their curl line is AMAZING), and a nickel of Spiraliscious. This usually yakee out a lot of product, and then I pat & scrunch a few eggs of mousse and diffuse. How do i apply this in my process? You mentiined not to apply it to too dey hair if you damp style, but not remove it with microplopping...do I need to not microplop? BTW i know you ❤️ eVOLVH, but you may want to read on Virtue. Ethically sourced numan hair Keratin. My hair is so much thicker..

Just add some water while applying. It doesn't have to be wet but wetter thwn damp is ideal. I'd layer mousse under or over this as usual. I'll have to look into Virtue. I have heard about it a few times.

@@HolisticEnchilada Thanks! I'm excited. Virtue seems pretty clean & is free of free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic colors, and dyes. Vegan. I can't find where I saw it on their site but they use human hair keratin from small wig makers in Asia. They use the hair that falls out when making a wig, and would normally be swept up and thrown away to extract keratin and use in regenerative medicine style (one owner did regen medicine for soldiers and they noticed the hair was better). One use = 22% thicker hair. My hair has trouble with conditioners & I use a photo log and after 1 month the diff was amazing. Only the curl line is silicone-free. www.virtuelabs.com/en/our-science It Is pricy, but super concentrated so it lasts forever. As much as my hair is anti emollient, the conditioner is both light and hydrating enough that I need a 1/4 golf ball of the curl whip. I think we have the same density, but you might need twice as much as me. If you ever do use it, I can't wait to see your thoughts. There is another clean beauty make up out there Lawless Foundation that is blowing up. I love your stuff. It has been great to find someone with similar hair and probs and see the transformation!!

Have you tried Evolvhs ultrashine line and how does that compare to the smartcurl?

I have and I have a full review on my blog that includes nearly every products they offer. The UltraShine is only slightly less moisturizing. Barely a difference and I can use either line without any issues.

I am wanting to try this SO BADLY but my hair hates coconut oil 😭 That's why I haven't tried their curl cream either despite people getting great results. Any leave in or styler with coconut oil leaves the worst feeling on my hair. It's also very difficult for me to get the stuff off my hair. I have a $20 coupon thing for them & am trying to hold back & not buy this lol. Did you get a cast with their mousse when you used it? Cuz that's the other product I've been eyeing

Oh that's tough! I don't really get a cast with anything so no. Their foam has no hold and I don't think it gives anyone else a cast. It's more for volume. This gel can give a light cast to some (not me).

What does "texture" mean? I don't understand when you say that a product gives your hair more ore less texture. Is it the same or similar like definition? Thank you.

Texture means a little grittiness, the opposite of soft. Almost like when your hair has salt water in it, but not as extreme. It helps if your hair is really soft so it can actually hold a style and volume for more than a few minutes.
