My (now ex) husband cheated. I left him, but first pulled the bottom tooth of every zipper in every pair of his pants out with a pair of pliers. That way, they would come unzipped from the bottom up as he wore them. I left a note in the pocket of his favorite jeans that said "since you couldn't keep them zipped while we were together....". I also put Nair Hair Remover in his shampoo, and hid sardines in the curtain rods and loosely recapped the ends so he could never find where the smell was coming from. I arranged to have all the utilities turned off in the house, late on a Friday, so he had no water, power, etc., until he could get them turned back on. I scattered his prized sports memorabilia collection into a big field of Kudzu vines across the street, and of course, cleaned out the bank accounts, packed up the kids and moved 1800 miles away. My late hubby knew that I don't mess around if I'm wronged and he learned his lesson one fine day. We had an argument and he threw a phone book (yes, it was a LONG time ago) across the room. Unfortunately for him, it came within a couple of feet of our baby who was in his highchair. I got "the look" in my eyes and used "the voice" and told him if he didn't get out NOW, they would be carrying him out on a stretcher. He stormed out and I locked the door. He didn't have his keys or wallet, and it was before cell phones. About five hours later, he called from a gas station about 10 miles from the house. He was so mad that he started walking and didn't realize he had gone so far from home. The gas station worker let him use the phone and he, sheepishly, asked that I come get him. I did. He apologized and he only had one other blow up in the 30+ years we were married... He didn't forget his keys that time.

I found out because his best friend who went to that school with him gave him an ultimatum. Either the bf was going to tell me or the bestie. Well, the BF was in the shower at my house, his bestie called me and told me everything. I grabbed his phone (which I am not a girl that goes through people stuff, but I had probable cause) I found vial pictures, busted into the bathroom... threw his phone in the water of the shower and told him to get his shhhhh and get out. I have never regretted any relationship I've been in because they 1. teach you something about yourself, or 2. teach you what you DON'T want in a relationship. I'm a firm believe that people only treat you the way you allow them to. So as hard as it was to walk away from a person I loved and had spent so long with... I was worth it. I've only spoken to him a handful of times since then. We knew each others families so well because we'd known each other since 1st grade, so when we've had deaths in the family and all we call or text. We talked a couple of years ago because we ran into one another, but we talked for a few minutes and he mentioned that he had just gotten engaged, etc. In my head I thought, if I had dated this version of him things would have probably turned out so different. I don't believe in once a cheater always a cheater. But I do believe that once someone has cheated on YOU, they will 9/10 times continue to cheat because they got away with it. Long replay, but there is my dating philosophy in a nut shell. LOL

When my last relationship ended I buried myself in work. Dating was my last priority. So I had several people tell me that I needed to slow down at work, that I was working to much, or that I needed to put myself out there. Well at that time I was so checked out on dating that I would always tell them... the day a man treats me as well as my direct deposit, I think about it. 🤣
