7:03 *cough cough inhale* Yes. A Golden Order is established in the Lands Between and a lady called Marika becomes their flagship goddess. One day one of her kids die so she decided that actually "Nuh Uh" & shatters the Elden Ring, which her husband Radagon attempts to fix & fails miserably. We tarnished are beckoned back to the Lands Between to slay the children of Marika & Radagon, who were either heavily impacted by the very reasonable divorce or benefitted from it by taking a piece of the Elden Ring for themselves. Unfortunately a war broke out that didn't end because Marika done the funny & sealed away the Rune of Death so no one can die.

Fun fact, that it is technically a mistranslation (old game had a lot) and was supposed to be Sepher Sephiroth. Same with Bizzaro Sephiroth which is correctly translated to Sephiroth Reborn. Overall not super important but just a fun tidbit.

Look as a tarnished. Everything you can kill in Elden Ring much like any souls game is a minority unless its an important npc that doesnt respawn upon sitting at a bonfire. Which is most enemies. Dont worry according to lore a good few of the gods were legit racist against certain people anyway so killing them is extra credit upon the gorging of the souls of the respawning.

If you want to see something REALLY crazy, Max just did a stream trying to beat unalloyed (modded) Melania. Every attack can combo into any other attack, she can use Waterfowl Dance right off the bat, AND it has about double the amount to attacs. And that's just the stuff i remember from phase 1.
