I have a Holley 2360 on my boat, it is a1991 OMC sterndrive Ford v8. I hadn't started the boat in 2 years because I kept getting invited out on friend's boats that are bigger :-) Pulled it out of the garage the other day and it started right up once the fuel made it up to the carburetor ... I was happy and had visions of being on the water in an hour. Checking around the engine while it warmed up, I smelled some gas. Shut things down, cleaned up the puddle on top of the intake manifold underneath the front bowl of the carb and waited for fumes to clear. Restarted. Noticed that the fuel was leaking around a casting plug on the top side of the front bowl's casting. (I didn't even know what that circular thing was at the time ... thank you KZbin friends!) Long story, short ... after coming across this video it had been about 4 or 5 hours and I restarted the engine ... to my surprise there was no longer any fuel leak around that casting plug!!! I will definitely keep an eye on it for the foreseeable future. Thanks Million Mile Garage!

Glad it helped! When you eventually have to rebuild the carb, a dab of fuel proof epoxy over that little button will prevent future problems from a lengthy slumber. I have a full rebuild video coming out in a few weeks that is part of a his and hers second generation Camaro series, both of them have the Holley carb set up (1850’s).

same thing happened to my one exactly the same carburettor as this one , you need the rebuild kitt , i can see that youre feul rail rubber gromet has dried up , if thats the only place its leaking you can find almost any rubber gromet seal thatle work, if you start that engine up the feul will sprey out like youre towing a sea biscuit behind a boat at 70 knotts lol i chewed out the 2 gromets in the kitt trying to get the carburettor sealed up on and off too many times the gromets cant take it , i ended up cutting bits from the distributor vacuum hose and trimming them down for a snug fit it has sealed well , those gromets are very very weak they are shit, i cant believe holley uses them or has a feul rail design like this very dangerous if one fails as youre driving feul will blast out everywhere and you catch on fire and burn too death, you may want to make youre own feul rail

That little tube close to the distributor, On my holly two barrel 2246, it looks like gas is coming up from that hole, Or it could be where the float.. do you know why? Is that normal?

If it’s coming out the vent tube you have a stuck float or leaky/dirty needle and seat.

Assuming it’s a 4160, check for leaks at transfer tube, most common leak on left side, as well as the cap on the secondary bowl. If it’s been sitting a while wait a few hours after it first sees fuel and see if it still leaks, if it does it’s time for repairs. This video shows a rebuild of that same 4160 Holley from the leaks video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2Osd3qmls98b6c

Results vary, sometimes you have to do a rebuild.

Mines leaks worse then that actually sprays out how can I fix it
@millionmilegarage95873 жыл бұрын
GypsyDJ562 Sounds like it’s time for a refresh. Sometimes those transfer tube seals tear or crack, only solution is to replace them.

That little tube on the 600 Holly that transfers gas from the front bowl to the back bowl was a very poor design why didn't they just make it a dual line like they did all the other carburetors
@millionmilegarage95872 жыл бұрын
I think the transfer tube versions were side hung floats whereas the center hung floats had the dual fuel line deal. Probably a cost thing, also the first production cars to get the Holley modular 4 barrel were 1957 Ford Thunderbirds. It was a 4150 series with side hung floats. Most if not all 4160 like the one in video were side hung float bowls with a metering plate/no secondary block with idle mixture screws. Back In the day these could be bought new for under $200.00! With a cam and intake swap with one of these perched on top you could almost double the output of a smogger motor with a free flowing exhaust. With combined cars I have about a half million miles on those 4160 carbs. I always spritzed those little o rings with wd-40 and rarely had problems until the newer fuels came out. My next Forgotten Duster video features a carb rebuild on one of these 4160 econo carbs. Thanks for watching!
