Holley Sniper EFI: Comp Cams Camshaft Break-in & First start

After rebuilding my small block Chevy 350 that was damaged due to a spun rod bearing on the #3 rod I am finally at the point of being ready to start the new build and break in the new Comp Cams camshaft and have the first start with my Holley Sniper EFI and Holley Hyperspark.
The car is my 1990 Camaro that has my small block chevy 350 and a 700r4.
Exhaust is a custom true dual 2.5" to flowmaster 40 series mufflers and shorty headers.
Comp Cams 12-234-2
062 Vortec Heads

Would you recommend breaking in with an efi kit? I have a set of heads and cam. im getting ready to install and i have a F.A.S.T efi kit i bought and didnt install it prior to my rebuild. When with a card to have a set rpm. I just want to know if this way would be easier and more confidence into doing so.

Stop pumping the throttle during start up its not a carburetor.

Timing wasn't right, can see goes near to 0° , that 350 timing is at 13 or 14°, and the most important, the final time curve. That is the real deal to don't damage your cam and lifters

I want to run the sniper with blow through turbo . I did edelbrock carb blow through before but want to go efi. How do you like it ?

That’s not how you break in a camshaft

Why are you giving it throttle before and on startup? This is not a carburetor the ECU should be compensating for all of this get your foot off the pedal.

That’s what i was wondering, if i jist set my ECU to 2500-3k rpm target idle it should start up as that correct? then after it’s broken in i’ll be able to reset the ECU target idle

@@bbodykidd I am building my small block with a cam and need to do this. I was also thinking of the target idle, but you’re supposed to fluctuate between 2000-2500 rpms for 30 mins

I've been searching for weeks for a video with the Sniper on a freshly built engine. I'm planning the same for my 90 C1500 pickup. There were a few things that have my concern. I saw that while starting, your foot was on the accelerator pedal. If you're used to a carb I understand the habit, but fuel injection shouldn't require it. Priming the oil pump needs a priming tool or the old distributor housing that your old shaft came from. Without it you'll probably get oil to one side of the engine ( I like to have both valve covers off to see if the rockers are getting oil). I hope I'm wrong, but it didn't sound like you brought the rpms up around 2500 to break the cam in. (20-30 minutes I hope) If you did that, good job. I'm preparing to install the same setup (Sniper master kit, and hyperspark kit) for my truck. Can't wait to get started. I hope everything is good to go. Enjoy that EFI.

Hey man, how did this go? I’m about to do the same thing (break in my cam with a new Holley sniper) and just want to know if you’re sniper let you bring up the RPMs right away after initial start up. Thanks! Appreciate any input

@@ChoppinGarage I haven't gotten a chance to do the engine swap yet. Both of my back-up vehicles are down and my truck is now my only transportation. I have a feeling it's gonna be a while before I get back on it. Thanks for the question. I hope everything goes smoothly with your build.
