Wat is the exact cement : sand ratio to make around 60 blocks po?
@stewartmcintosh10732 жыл бұрын
They are not concrete blocks who fits molasses in a concrete is firm molasses goes into food the reason I found my losses and because I'm not using enough cement to make it more sticky
@delavan91413 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't use those blocks. Their strength must be minimal, with so little cement and water used. I wonder if there are any building material standards he has to comply with.

These are just the class C holloe blocks.
@mdsuavejr5 жыл бұрын
These kind of hollow blocks easily break. No compression applied. Much more if there is not enough cement.
@villagepeoplephilippines5 жыл бұрын
These kind only serve as a form, no strength on it so the mix to fill in and the rendering should be classA to get the strength.

No wonder why the blocks have large variations. They stacked them and they are not even cured yet.

Hollow blocks here in the Philippinrs are only in fill not load bearing
@jasonjames42546 жыл бұрын
At that price, those blocks certainly do serve as a very affordable building material even with rebar and strong cement fill. I've notice a lot of homes don't immediately use a finish coat due to the added expense. I wonder how the tensile/compression strength of bamboo compares? If typhoons or earthquakes are the bigger threat to the structural integrity of the walls?

It's neat to see various ways of making hollow block. Different areas make them with different techniques.
@gooblio6 жыл бұрын
Not enough cement, wonder if you can custom order the mix. I've seen the quality of the blocks and they are very weak. I don't know if that's because they fill them and coat them during construction or it's just to cut the cost, but I've seen a lot of blocks that just fall apart during construction. Over here we use clay bricks, not sure which is better.

Watch out he Portland cement ratio to sand and gravel. Some will use 120 ratio. That’s One sack of cement for every 120 blocks! This is garbage blocks, you can break them by squeezing them.60 blocks to one bag of cement gives a good block.
@villagepeoplephilippines5 жыл бұрын
BDR CHRIST I agree, the mix in my mind needs more cement. Personally I use a 3-2-1 4500PSI on all my construction projects and I am well aware ALL hollow blocks have no load bearing capacity. I have however seen videos of foreigners using hollow blocks as retaining walls. LOL One should consider hollow blocks as just fill between the columns and beams of a building.

Whoaaa... Yes if you want porous and fragile! 1 x 50kg bag of PC, I would have said makes 50 hollow blocks (give or take 5-10). Factors like the buildings height/no. of floors etc (reg'd compression strength) I would say are a big factor when choosing, or rather insisting upon the appropriate mix ratio. In any event, rebar reinforcement (both vertical and lateral) and concrete infill of holes would prove a sound measure for any hollow block house I built in Phils
@villagepeoplephilippines6 жыл бұрын
I was surprised at the mix is well, but I was there to observe, not to instruct. I do however consider the blocks having no load bearing abilities and just something to work from. You are 100% correct you need rebar reinforcement and concrete infill of holes. Plus a good rendering inch to an inch and half of strong cement (3 sand to 1 cement) mix render. I have seen situations outside in the past where the blocks have weathered leaving nothing but the concrete infill, interesting sight. Blocks I have used in the past come from a supplier who uses a stronger mix. Although you get it, I have seen such blocks used by one for structural purposes with one single rebar in the concrete as a tie beam in the base and even the columns built out of hollow blocks. Waiting for them to build the second floor as we all know what is going to happen.
