So glad to see a non dedicated hollow knight youtube who at least knows a good bit about what their talking about. Hollow knight is one of my favourite games and when someone says they're playing for the first time I usually click off because if someone thinks they know what they're talking about on lore when the games has barely started triggers me, so it filled me with happiness when you started talking about even basic lore. The only games that should be allowed to use the "like Dark Souls" phrase in their description should be those whose strategy regarding bosses is to get between their legs until you can smell the musk of ancient unwashed balls and arsehole sweat. And then just swing around your sword while occasionally dodge-rolling their (AOE) attacks after which you go back to sniffing their taint as you swing your sword around to deal damage. If your game's protagonist doesn't need to hug the genital area of a boss to deal damage then it's not a "like Dark Souls" game.
