Hollow Knight- Elegant Key From Sly, Where Does It Go?

Early in Hollow Knight it is possible to buy the Elegant Key from Sly for 800 geo. You may wonder where this key should go and is it worth paying 800 geo?
How to acquire the Elegant Key?
It is purchased from from Sly in Dirtmouth for 800 Geo‍ after giving Sly the Shopkeeper's Key.
Where to use the Key?
Turns out that the door that only opens with the Elegant Key is located in the City of Tears. Take the Storeroom Stag Station and head down and to the right. There is a bench where you can save. From the bench you will make your way around (down right up left) until you are just above the bench. The locked door there requires the elegant key.
What do you get for the elegant key?
Once the locked door is opened you will fight a soul warrior. He is fairly easy to take down. Continuing on Shade Soul is obtained from a Snail Shaman linked to some kind of machine. This implies that the researchers of the Soul Sanctum were experimenting on the Shamans' natural ability to use Soul.
Shade Soul will launch a projectile that passes through enemies and deals damage. The projectile will now penetrate all objects in its path including walls and invulnerable parts of enemies, such as a shield or shell. This is a great upgrade to the vengeful spirit spell.

I like shaman stone, quick slash, long nail and soul catcher. Get some quick nail hits to recharge soul then use powerful spell attacks.

I'm 3 months late, but also really struggled with it. For me, I equipped defensive items, went slow, and hugged the right side of the arena while almost continuously wall jumping and downslashing.

If sly is gone you must have found all the nail arts from the 3 different nail masters. From sky’s shop go down into the basement and he will give you something. After that he should go back into the shop

Since I comment on most of your videos, I thought that I could keep you updated on my progression in hollow Knight, it's my first play through and maybe you can give some tips on what to do next! Yesterday I was able to defeat one of the dreamers, the teacher. I still don't have a map of fog canyon because I don't have the mothwing cloak, I am currently truing to defeat dream warrior graves to get the pale ore from the seer so that I can upgrade my nail! If you have Isma’s year you can get to Conifer from the other direction. Go into the fungal wastes where the leg eater is. (He is the big next to the bench that sells the breakable charms). From that bench go left and you will see a small pool of acid. With Isma’s year you can swim through and keep going left until you reach cornifer. You should be able to do all three dreamers. (The one in city of tears is probably the hardest with watcher knights guarding the way). It’s a great idea to get all the pale ore!

There's a cheese for the boss. I climb the right side wall and hang out in the top corner. Kill the ghosts from up there and get essence. Desolate dive the boss when he charges to the wall. Rinse and repeat. After a while, the ghosts will stop spawning. I didn't count, but there's around 30 of them (?) Once they are gone, the boss will be almost dead from your desloate dives. Finish him off without the pain of his summons.

I tried this method but was having a hard time since I haven't got desolate dive yet. I tried equipping Dreamshield and I beat the boss first try using your method again. Charm is useful lol

I’m not the best at the boss fights. Plus there are a lot of different fighting styles. I may do the path of pain eventually! Primal aspids have to be one of the most annoying enemies I the game. Some videos (like this one) are made because there is a lot of people searching for what do do with the elegant key. I look at a lot of data and analytics before making my videos (most of the time). It’s why I name my videos a specific way And why I show up in searches real easy.

In defence of Relyea it is hard to do a boss fight. As everyone's playing style is different. As an example some people like using spells, others like slogging it out with their nail, others like combinations. Myself it depends on the boss. Some are easier to take out with spells, moreso depending on their location layout. Others it is just being tactical taking hits with your nail when can. For a lot of bosses patience is the key.. for others though it is best to take them out as quickly as possible otherwise they can overwhelm you with their little helpers ( Grey Prince Zote comes to mind here )... As to Primal Aspids... yeah.... will give 2 hints which i use with these little suckers. 1. try to take out as quickly as possible do not let them have a chance to spot you and then react to spotting you. 2. DO NOT use full jumps if they have fired their 3 balls of fire at you, if you do almost guaranteed you will get hit ... only do half jumps or 1/4 jumps just enough to get over the one closest to you. Or better yet use Dash if possible to dash out of the way. If on a platforming section when you encounter them then use a combination of dash (to get closer to them if further away ) and monarch wings try to get them before they get organised. If your on a platform and they shoot their 3 balls at you 1/4 to half jumps only to get out of way of closest ball... if use full jump 9 times out of 10 it will put you straight into one of the other balls. The other way with them if you have some cover around you... is to get their attention and then go behind the cover ( yes they will come after you ) wait behind cover when they get close hop out and hit them back behind cover again... use cover or blocks to your advantage.

He only has 3 attacks. 1. When he puts his sword back he will dash towards you. Just jump. 2. When he teleports above you dash to the side. 3. When he puts his hand out he will cast a spell. Doge Other than that, kill off the small enemies as they spawn in and get close to you. Keep trying, you will get it

hehe all the best with it :) and does it ever finish? there is always something to discover or ok lets try this way and see what happens lol. Sometimes it is successful... sometimes it is ok.. wont do that again. I myself am approaching 700+ hours in the game... just playing it different ways trying different things... I tried one playthrough only using spells no nail upgrades just spells upgraded.... was..... interesting and no wouldnt do again as well i prefer the nail :) but in saying that in some ways no nail upgrades made some sections of it in fact easier as then didnt propel you into roofs etc when was in tight places.
