This game is dark af when you learn the lore

Things I think you should know about this game or do for future videos: -Soul Master/Soul Tyrant has his own theme, last time you put Mantis Lords theme over his battle -You really need to go do more Godmaster, you can rematch your favourite bosses there and get two endings -If you fight White Defender five times he builds a poop statue of you -If you fight Grey Prince Zote ten times the statue in Bretta’s basement turns gold -Somewhere in Kingdom’s Edge you can find a lore tablet explaining all the locations of Mister Mushroom in order, in the same shaft, head downwards and find the largest geo deposit in the world -White Defender has his own theme, you put his normal theme over his battle -If you go into Deepnest and explore the home of Hornet’s mum you can find a trilobite statue -Please read the Hunter’s Journal entry for stuff, it’s very interesting

I’ve actually beaten the path of pain. It only took me 4-ish hours and my sanity because my game chrashed right when I was at the end. So I had to do all of it over again, but overall it was pretty fun to suffer.

So you asked for HK-similar games, here's what I'd recommed: - Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight (the most similar in my opinion, much shorter but it's a metroidvania too, with a similar tone and atmosphere to HK) - Ori and the Blind Forest (has less focus on combat in favor of platforming, also much more linear but very enjoyable nonetheless, the sequel Ori and the Will of the Wisps is much more similar to HK though) - the Guacamelee series (a brawler style metroidvania with LOTS of platforming challenges) Now you gotta play all of them cuz I spent time writing this comment.

@Maddox Dettman To each their own, I guess. Watcher Knights wasn't even much of a challenge for me even on Radiant. Ofc I did not do it on the first attempt, but it went down after a few tries, everything is well-telegraphed and quite managable. Markoth is bad, but in the end the difficult part, i.e. the second phase can be shortened dramatically with Shade Soul spamming. AbsRad takes a long time, with many different phases, and honestly the sheer variety of stuff you need to do for the many possible combinations of attacks is much larger than in the case of Markoth which, while random, is at least the same sort of random throughout the fight, and won't really surprise you.

Edit: I just realised you haven't reached the """true ending""" yet so minor boss spoilers ahead. Just read this after you've dream nailed HK when Horney as them pinned down So while the ending of PoP seems pretty insignificant, lore wise it has large implications: What you see at the end is likely a cherished memory of the Hollow Knight, but since it was created and/ or conditioned to have no mind to think etc., it locked this memory away behind the Path of Pain. This explains why this supposed perfect vessel for the Radiance became corrupted by the infection after all: deep inside, the Hollow Knight cherished a memory of a father long gone. And the infection latched on to it. Also I beat PoP in a 2 and a half hour sitting, yelled triumphantly when I beat it, my thumb still ached days later

I do wonder if you have done the delicate flower quest, as I remember you going to her but I don't remember seeing you do the quest, if you haven't then that's another thing you should do since you get the last mask shard from it, and if you have done it then I have a bad memory. I'd recommend doing it before going to true ending, and had I remembered I would have told you to do it before Nightmare King Grimm. Well....since you asked. I've beat path of pain twice. First time was very painful. Second time was actually far more fun. Also tip! (I know this is an old video but like just in case you see this) if you want to stick to a wall rapidly press Crystal heart. It freezes you in place with very minimal movement and helps give you time for timed wall jumps.

Here's a little secret. When you go into the hall of gods with all the boss statues (in godhome) and Crystal heart above the gate on the second floor then jump into the roof like a second after crystal dashing and break the breakable wall but it's not visable and might take a while for you to find it. But I think the secret is really cool! Try it out if you want.

I actually somehow completed the path of pain on my potato laptop some time ago, and I died at the very very end. So my great boyfriend got me a mod to just teleport myself back to the end because I technically completed it anyway ( no judging ;; )

Can I talk about the final boss, called the *SPOILER*. You're gonna have to take it slow in that fight. Spells will be your best friend against her especially Abyss Shriek. Also, your health regenerates fully when you enter the boss room. Quick reminder: Your life is more valuable than damage. Take note of that please.

If you havent played it yet, I would recommend playing A Hat in Time. It’s a very nice 3D platformer. (Btw if you have a Nintendo Switch, there’s also Astral Chain. Its made by the same studio as Nier. And its a masterpiece)

So, the cutscene at the end of Path of Pain explains why the Hollow Knight failed at its task to seal the infection, the reason is: a father's love. The Hollow Knight needed to be empty of everything to contain the infection, but the Pale King became attached to the Hollow Knight, and thus, so did the Hollow Knight to him. The reason why the infection took Hallownest was because the Pale King loved his child. Tragic.

If you want an extra challenge try to beat it with sharp shadow. Although you'd need to start a new game file if you wanna re-attempt PoP... Also, wow, you made it harder for yourself at 9:20 and actually made it!
