A shell of a vessel hollowed out by the void only to be hollowed out once more to be used as a puppet by the very thing it fought against. A vessel that escaped the abyss and wasn’t trapped by nosk yet a mere husk of itself forced to move and fight its own sibling. (Also all siblings jump randomly for some reason)

You can really hear how the broken vessel is related to the knight and pale King with the white Palace theme in the back round, it also almost sounds corrupted (in a good way) which fits the whole "being controlled by the radiance" or "infection" part of the fight, Tl;Dr: love this remix

This fight, along with the final battle, were the only ones that made me really emotional. Despite how simplistic the style may seem, these are our brethren, *bred* to be hollow vessels who mindlessly sacrifice themselves. To be infected by the radiance means they somehow gained sentience, and I always wondered what exactly went through their minds before the sickness settled in. Were their first thought happy? Did they feel liberated at gaining a free will, or at least a thought of their own? Did they long to join society? To choose their own path in life? To fall in love? To find or maybe even have a family? I think what made me the most sad was when the Hollow Knight began stabbing themself, fighting with the infection in an attempt to help the Knight defeat them, even if it meant their own death. I'm glad they were both at least put to rest by their sibling, and finally able to be at peace.

Sorry for necroposting, but when we first enter the arena we can see but his corpse. He wasn't infected because he had a will, he could have easily been the perfect vessel, but he died, presumably to one of the mawleks we can find in ancient basin. His corpse was overtaken after he died, so this makes it somewhat less tragic.

I platinumed Hollow Knight a couple weeks ago, its been a long ride since i started playing the game. I loved every bit of it (even pantheon 5), it’s basically what got me to like Metroidvania games in general. I know that SilkSong will be released this year, but im the meantime im playing a handful of metroid games, trying to get to radiant absolute radiance and considering playing Owlboy. The best bosses are the ones that play significant roles to the story. False Knight, Hornet, Mantis Lords, Dung Defender, Soul Tyrant, Grimm, Broken Vessel, Nosk, Radiance, and Hollow Knight. Just the best and they play large roles in the story of Hallownest(except False Knight but he has a sad backstory and he is a good first boss). Also, can you do a remix of the Dung Defender or Mantis Lords theme? That would be epic.
