Hollow Knight Speedrun - 112% All Pantheon Bosses in

It finally happened. A 112% run I feel good about.
To anyone who hasn't paid much attention to the wr progression for this category, I've beaten my previous 3:23 time quite a long time ago, but I wasn't satisfied with the runs I was getting
This run was pretty solid for the most part, but definitely still beatable.
Unfortunately this run is silent until the credits, but I'm planning on doing a commentary on this in the future, where I'll explain a lot of the newer changes that happened since the last uploaded run, so look forward to that!

Q: Do you play on a controller or a keyboard?
A: Keyboard
Q: Why do you open your inventory while falling?
A: Increases falling speed + Removes hardfalls.
Q: Weren't inventory drops removed??
A: Not entirely, they're just way more precise. You can only do them as you fall off a ledge. That's why you'll see me use other ways to drop faster, like cyclone drops and dives.
Q: Why is the game in Chinese?
A: Faster text scroll + Less letters in general, saves a good amount of time.
Q: Why are there 2 timers?
A: The upper one is for time without game loading times (loadless), lower one is real time (RTA).
Q: Isn't the Pantheon of Hallownest optional?
A: The category is 112% All Pantheon Bosses, so all the pantheons are required.

@@VitaEmerald324 you raise a fair point. The longer the run, the more time losses there can be, and the less total runs can have been completed, which also leads to less optimization. 10 minutes is still quite a bit for a run like this though

I 100% agree Espacially when youve played through it a couple times and consider getting nearly or about 90-100% fast in my case of course i only did whatever i float.my boat but still my time was nearly 10hours for some basics and this Mad Lad Gets 112% in under 4hours its so insane

Glad I was there :) Absolutely incredible run. Always positive and big timesave on Uumuu (on a previous run he got a 3:13:58 losing a ton of time to really bad Uumuu RNG and SOMEHOW managed to save the run). This was amazing to see. Every split was fast. Every movement was sooooo precise. This is what happens when you are >10 minutes from the 2nd place. Great Job MonStah 🤩

For anyone who doesn't know, speedrunners use languages such as Mandarin and Japanaese (primarily Mandarin) to save time when an NPC speaks. These languages contain kanji, which are big complicated symbols that represent 1 or more words. This makes it ultimately much faster to read than English. Hollow Knight recognises this and makes the text scroll very very quickly allowing you to save time. Speedrunners don't need to read text so they don't suffer a disadvantage. Instead they shave a few seconds off their run!

I never even realized spells were any good, they always felt like a crutch to me, but i guess that's why i'm making the comment and you're doing the thing. spells actually do significantly more damage than the nail so until you have maxed nail and good charms its almost always better dps to use spells, especially in boss fights where you can have one spell hit multiple times

@@CJTheExpert Oh he was also a major MAJOR roadblock i suggest sharp shadow and mostly standing still after uppercut into dashing into the air with those fireballs always have enough soul for two heals incase you stun him my charms were Strength mark of pride sharp shadow and any 1 cost charm of your choice take the fight slow hes one of the Hardest Bosses Only one i struggled with afterwards is Pure vessel i havent gotten to Absolute radiance yet Hope That Helps Ya But thats just what worked for me i even tried with nailmasters glory sharp shadow once also went well its Up to your Playstyle nkg is a very fast And hard hitting boss Dont Feel Bad for not beating him fast i tried for many hours over a few days untill one morning where i beat him on my 5th try or so Also Last Fact ive learned from.someone else...everytime he roleplays a pufferfish so when hes in the middle that means you drained 25% of his HP Hope This Helps Ya And Best of Luck But as said thats what worked for me some people dont like sharp shadow but for me it got me the crucial hits (small edit in) having all 9 health is obviosly very good just sayin tho it took me a long time to to figure that out lol but idk just wanted to say it in the just incase scenerio xd

Watching it after 5hrs of struggling with defeating AbsRad once is pain

You'll get there eventually. It took me 2 years to finally beat AbsRad, i kept saying i quit, but the knowledge that i let a game break me was unbearable, and i came back and did it. In hindsight, not actually that difficult. Shaman's, Strength, Quickslash, Heart. You should also be at a point where NKG and PV are just minor speedbumps with little to no risk of death. Every PoH attempt must end at AbsRad, one way or another. In the AbsRad fight, phase 2, don't actually do the staying on the bottom platform bullshit that a lot of guides tell you to do. Stay somewhere near the top and chase the boss around. She'll die many times faster, and there will therefore be less overall risk of getting hit. On the climb phase, don't hurry, you're not a speedrunner. That was a big problem for me, because i kept rushing it. Be patient, only climb when it's already doing a laser. Final phase, 2 shrieks and from there it's basically nothing, just a couple of smacks. Defeating AbsRad in the hall of gods once means you're ready for PoH, so don't waste time anywhere else, because you want your successful AbsRad kills actually count. I hope that helps

Tried using this as a template for a speedrun strat. Sweet Jesus, this(run) is incredibly execution/memorization heavy. Took me 2 hours to get up to Crystal Peak. You did it in less than 30 minutes. 🤯

In poh speedruns monstah has the lifeblood cocoons at bench rooms,which are not available in regular 112 speedruns. So with fury,monstah would have to do a radiant p5 speedrun which depends on a lot of rng and is not worth it
