For me, a lot of characters are just there and idk what their part is- like the bug you buy eggs from, jiji and the snail shamans (despite the lore of how powerful they are) the mask guy in deepnest and the one that looks like baymax in kingdoms edge- the spider lady- this should be a whole series tbh

It seems in HK the lore is very open minded to what's considered a god re: Godhome. But there are greater and lesser gods, i think. And creation eg motherhood is very high. In this theory, the way monomon had an objective in a dying world with her offspring reminds me of the white lady & the vessels.
@errric_enniawl Жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right about the open definition of godhood. All it takes is for a lot of living things to be devoted to you. When you consider the Fungal Wastes god particles, the definition gets even broader. There the particles convey that the shared mind of all the mushrooms is a god in and of itself. Cool stuff, honestly.

I figured that stopping to explain things as I went would kinda detract from the tone, though I completely understand the skepticism. Is it considered general knowledge that the particles of areas are attributed to gods? I know they're related to higher powers, for instance the void presence in an area and infection in the crossroads, but is that the case for each area? Before my long write-up, I'll say - your editing is great! The timestamps are a really nice addition too, as it helps mark where the canon stops and your theories begins; personally though, I'd make it even clearer, just so people don't get to lost on the storytelling. Now, I, like a few other people here, don't really buy the "god particle" stuff, even having read some of your arguments. It's a bit too early to engage in a full discussion in regards to the subject, so I'll just leave some thoughts here. The fungus area has spores in the air, the bubble area has bubbles in the air, the crystal area has crystal in the air, the void area has void in the air - it's so simple and straightforward that trying to tie into something much grander and more divine feels awkward. Even the white particles are easily explained as soul in the air, as per the description of the Deep Focus charm and their much greater concentration in the Soul Sanctum. I think there's merit to your idea in the sense that higher beings may affect the particles of the areas they find themselves in, as the White Lady and Pale King probably either gather or release soul into their domains, explaining it's higher concentration there compared to, say, Forgotten Crossroads. My issue is with the idea that this is somehow true to ALL areas, as it feels like a very forced conclusion. The more absolute a statement is, the more likely it is to be wrong. Despite all this doubting, I hope you'll still share the video explaing your arguments. Believe me when I say that I know that dreadful sensation of standing alone with your theory against a world that seemingly doesn't believe in it. Just be prepared to have your views challenged and to either agree to disagree or, better yet, improve your theory by adapting to and learning from other peoples' counter-arguments.
@errric_enniawl Жыл бұрын
Fantastic comment! I am going to address my reasoning for everything not explicitly canon in my next video, but I totally understand and welcome the skepticism. Obviously from one lens anything not directly stated in canon is speculative, but not only is there a lot of fun to be had piecing things together, I personally believe that some of the direct lore is misleading, either intentionally or from someone repeating misinformation. Either way I'm looking forward to hearing what the community has to say about my reasoning. If only I wasn't brand new to video editing and could move faster 😅

@errric_enniawl Жыл бұрын
I get your skepticism about the concept, but it's pretty constant across the entire game world - the particles that fly across the screen in any given region correlate to the higher power controlling that area. Then you have "dead" regions where there are super sparse, tiny white dots. And void regions with black particles. Next time you're playing HK, check it out! And thanks for watching and commenting

Also the Hollowknight did last for some time though it is unclear how long this was but was a long ish time. The Plae King and the White Lady left after the black egg was sealed out of shame... also maybe just maybe I am crazy here but the background bubbles In fog canyon are just that bubbles and background art to make the biome look nicer with 0 lore implications because that's a silly and absurd lore claim.
@errric_enniawl Жыл бұрын
I never claimed the Hollow knight didn't last long. I just said that when it failed, the second wave came and wiped out Hallownest, and at that point the King and Queen fled. None of that is controversial, it's all directly stated in game. The only reason I skipped over that time period is because this is Monomon's story, and not much happened then that relates to her story
@pdg3513 Жыл бұрын
@@errric_enniawl My mistake I thought that the Pale King and White lady left after the sealing of the temple of the black egg they did move to their current after the Hollow Knight started to decay, but they still did move out of shame. I think that the Pale king and white lady did move to where they are currently are before the events of the Quirrel comic and were there for a decent period of time. How long this period was is hard to say. But I don't think PK and WL moved to where we see them in game right before we get Hallownest and start the game. I think that is just too soon in the time line IMO.

Very interesting, I always love to see what the god particles can tell us. Minor correction: 3:24 The Radiance isn't the Pale King's ancient foe, as far as we know. It's not even clear if the Pale King knew the Radiance was behind the Infection. The Radiance only considers Void to be her ancient enemy, and it's not clear if the Void reciprocated until recently. Personally, my head canon regarding Monomon is that she told Quirrell to take one of the vessels (the player character) out of the kingdom so it could survive the Infection and hopefully return if the Hollow Knight needed replacing. Quirrell did so, but unfortunately Quirrell lost his memories. I also like to think that this led to the Knight becoming truly hollow, but I could take it or leave it.
@errric_enniawl Жыл бұрын
I think they very much were aware of each other, here's why: 1. He tells us so in one of the Palace tablets: "No blazing kin. Only one light shall shine against the dark." He's talking about getting rid of the Radiance. 2. The Seer tells us when we bring her 2400 essence: "The folk of my tribe were born from a light. Light similar to Essence, similar to that powerful blade, though much brighter still. They were content to bask in that light and honoured it... for a time. But another light appeared in our world... A wyrm that took the form of a king. How fickle my ancestors must have been. They forsook the light that spawned them. Turned their backs to it... Forgot it even." That's off the top of my head, so I may have missed some stuff. I'll present my full reasoning in my next video. Thanks for watching!
@JM-us3fr Жыл бұрын
@@errric_enniawl I don't really think that second one was evidence that the Pale King knew about the Radiance, just the moth tribe which we already knew. I didn't know about that first quote though, but still it's poetic form doesn't necessarily suggest he knows exactly what it is. There are many regular bugs who describe their experience with the Infection as a light, so it's still not quite clear. Although the term "blazing kin" certainly suggests there's more to it than what he's written. I'll look forward to your video!

@@errric_enniawl I don’t mean to come off as rude but here is what I gather. 1: that palace tablet is called hallownests beacon, the “light” is likely referring to the beacon or the king himself as he is stated to emit a pale light and we even see it in the abyss flashback,the room only gets brighter when he’s in it. the stand against the dark part most likely refers to: under the context that this IS a beacon that it will be the only place of civilization in the “dark” which is the wasteland outside the kingdom. 2: the moths worshipped the radiance before they left her for the pale king willingly because of the intelligence he offered. I feel like if they were always enemies they wouldn’t side with him or they would’ve done it sooner since they would already know what he was capable of. While i do believe he would know it was the radiance causing the infection I don’t think he was always at qualms with her. (Btw sorry for the long explanation)

Some points opposing this theory: - The particles of the gods which have been confirmed (Unn, Pale king, White lady, Grimm and Radiance) are represented as dreamcatcher particles. The bubble particles of fog canyon are probably just the acid bubbling and the particles in the fungal wastes are most likely the spores of the fungi. Similarly, the crystal particles is the crystal peaks are probably just that, small crystal particles light and small enough to float in the air. - Could you clarify how you know that Isma's grove is where all (if not most) of the acid comes from? and where are the pipelines now? I agree with most of this video except these points.
@errric_enniawl Жыл бұрын
As soon as I finish the timeline video I'm working on now, I'm going to post a video which explains my reasoning for anything I think the community might find questionable, including both of your points. Off the top of my head tho, some evidence for my theories about the acid: - the mister mushroom lore tablet refers to the grove as "the source of acid blight". - the hunter's journal entry on the durandoo (I think, the armored thing that swims in acid) points out that the acid kills almost every bug that touches it. We can observe that this is also true for plants except the specific ones that like it. - if acid were native to any region, you'd expect some of the flora and fauna to have adapted to it - we can see the main pipeline next to Dung Defender, and if you look carefully in the room at the heart of the grove, you can see many more pipes in the background - Apart from very few living things, the acid kills everything it touches. But at the archives it's used to store knowledge. If we know that the source of the acid blight is the grove, it must have been pumped to the archive site
@Bitmaker64 Жыл бұрын
@@errric_enniawl Thanks for clarifying. Yeah, those points are pretty compelling. And yeah, the acid going from waterways to fungal to fog canyon would explain why there is acid along that path.

I’ve never considered the idea of God Particles, and so really like it! I just have a quick thought about a small detail: You mentioned how the God particles in the Crystal Peak were created by the madness and determination of the infected miners. I like this, but I think it would make more sense if the God particles originated not from the miners, but from, perhaps, the stored light of the Radiance, in the very crystals themselves. This would also be supported by how the Crystal Peak God Particles are the same colour as the crystals, yet still slightly glowing, imitating the lights current state. Just an idea. While I’m here, I might as well talk about another thing I like about this video I really like the idea that the little jelly fish things are not just containers for the infection, but powered by it. I could see how the plus symbol seen inside the infection of the bigger jelly fish could be seen as one part of the positive and negative of a battery, giving them energy. One last thing: You mentioned the Fog Canyon God Particles. Looking at them, I think they seen nothing more than bubbles, similar to the rest of the bubbles in the Canyon. This would also explain their size, being nearly double the size of all other God Particles, and I don’t really see Monomon being more powerful than the likes of the Void, despite how the Void’s God Particles are smaller. In addition to this, from what you have said, it has made it seem that these God Particles are more of an ethereal indication of power rather than physical things. So then, if I have understood this correctly (and I might not have), how does Uumuu have these God Particles when they are popped into their damageable state, showing how, like the forms of the jelly fish, the particles are just bubbles. Alternatively, if you truly believe that the bubble particles in Fog Canyon are God Particles, and I have misunderstood what you are taking about and the Fog Canyon God Particles are physical, then do you think that the jelly fish are actually made from these God Particles? If so, I think that’s a very interesting idea. Perhaps this is a way that the jelly fish are continually created and are going in strength: Monomon is creating these God Particles, although unintentionally in her sleep, making a powerful force. Just a few thoughts.

Basically! This is not too far fetched in Hallownest. After all, when the king turned the moths against the Radiance, we're told she would have been extinguished if not for a few faithful moths. So that implies that belief, reverence, or love of a higher being can be what sustains them. Every single jelly is single-mindedly focused on protecting Monomon (according to their dream nail dialogue). Over time, that many minds raised their creator to godhood. At least, that's my theory

⭐Nice theory, very creative although I do have some problems/criticisms with it. First off I think the bubble particles are just that, bubbles and not some godly particle as you say as there unlike any other particles in the entire game being a physical thing you can touch not some flouting transient lights/colors in the air (Sidenote I find the Crystal peak's particles to be the same thing just crystals). Also I don't see any evidence that a pipeline was ever constructed as I fined it more likely that the acid came from Greenpath and there for Unn not Isma, nor do I see any evidence of Ogrim or Isma being associated with the archive in any way. (✴EDIT: oops your right I didn't think of the Isma's grove pipes at all, or the fact the dung defender and Isma are both Quiet heavily related to the grove. Well done I applaud thee.) I the you made one small error. Ther is no proof in the in game lore/ cut lore or pre release concept lore that is not or is no longer seen as canion/ out side lore IE the physical Wanders Journal book from Fan Gamer or the Quirrel Comic that suggests that the Pale King knew that the infection was caused by the Radiance. We know that the Pale King could see the future to some extent yet none of his dialog anywhere calls out the Radiance by name. Nor does he suspect that The Radiance or any higher being or anything is behind the infection causing it. All his dialog states is that he knew the infection was a plague of the mind. The closest thing we have in game to support this idea is the Radiance's dream nail dialog calling the player Knight her "ancient enemy". Now it is unclear and ambiguous what she means/meant by this. Some would say this line is the proof I am looking for that Pale King knew that the Radiance was behind the infection. Because what she is potentially referring to is the fact we are the Pale King's child and thus the Pale King is her "ancient enemy". However, I think I have a much better explanation and interpretation of this line. According to the Moss Prophet it is stated that one of the things that the Radiance has domain over or wishes to have domain over or at the very least as a great care and desire/drive to have domain over. Is nature/the natural order of the world. The Radiance is not so mad about being forgotten she is more mad that the Pale King put Hallownest into stasis thus violating nature/ the natural order of the world. So it could be said that Radiance is also a God of "life" and light IE a protector of all living things... What would be the opposite of that...Yup! That's right the Void. Heck even the Pale King says that the Void is the opposite of life. So from this it becomes fairly clear that Radiance is taking about the player Knight's nature and the Void is her "ancient enemy" because void has been seemingly around forever and likely has been around far longer that the Pale King or Wyrms.
@errric_enniawl Жыл бұрын
We do know the Pale King knew about the Radiance. He said it in the lore tablet in the White Palace. No blazing kin. Only one light shall shine against the dark. He's talking about the Radiance. Also the seer tells us that the Pale King turned the moths away from the Radiance. When we bring her 2400 essence she says But another light appeared in our world... A wyrm that took the form of a king. How fickle my ancestors must have been. They forsook the light that spawned them. Turned their backs to it... Forgot it even. And the arguments he used to turn them are written down in the lore tablets in the teacher's archives: the oldlight (Radiance) demands singleminded praise. The King offers diversity of thought.
@pdg3513 Жыл бұрын
@@errric_enniawl Ok Fair enough...Still think the ancient enemy line is more likely referring to the void part of the Player Knight rather the the Pale King part of the Player Knight because of what the Moss Prophets says "Light is life, beaming, pure, brilliant. To stifle that light is to suppress nature. Nature suppressed distorts, plagues us. Embrace light! Achieve union! Oohh..Ahhh." and what the pale king says about void "VOID, yours is the power opposed. But yours is potential, eternity potential, force that could deny Time. VOID, harness shall be placed upon you." These lines totally jive with my Idea that the Radiance is also god of life/nature or at the bare minimum has a care for and drive to rule over life/nature and the void is the opposite of life and the void has been around longer than ANYTHING in Hallownest or elsewhere has. Also I think the Embrace the Void ending to kind of confirms my theory too maybe possibly? Because of the Shade Lords 1V1 with the Radiance at the end

There's canon reasoning behind everything I'm saying. I'm including those explanations at the end of my next video. The only thing I've speculated on is the timing of building the archives, whether it was before or in response to the infection. Thanks for watching!
@cawareyoudoin7379 Жыл бұрын
@@errric_enniawl The jellyfish being lifeforms "powered by the infection" doesn't mesh at all with two things: the fact that they were planning to lock the infection away, and the fact that, as you pointed out, the Archive wouldn't be very useful to ordinary bugs if they were infected or dead- and the Infection clearly made the jellyfish dangerous to be around, thus making the Archive inaccessible. The lore tablets in the Archive talk about the creation of the Vessels, not the jellies, so Monomon was clearly involved in their creation as well- but you claim the Pale King came to her with the plan already in motion. Environment particles being big doesn't necessarily imply the higher being in question is more powerful than others. Bubbles are just not very readable as bubbles when they're tiny particles. The seal Monomon has isn't a special one- it's the same seal, we're just seeing it from a different angle. I agree with some of your claims- that Monomon in some way created all the jellies, that she was a higher being, perhaps even that she gained power through their devotion- but we can't reasonably place that event on a timeline without wildly speculating. We can't be certain when the Elegy was written or completed either. Some facts you mention are of course clearly true, like Quirrel's mission. I like the acid theory, although I'm not sure about the details. I love Monomon, she's my favourite Dreamer, and one of the most fascinating characters without much dialogue. Your theory is interesting, if flawed- I'd like to see your reasoning as to a few of these points. I get that you wanted to tell a compelling story in this video, without interrupting it with quotes or phrases like "we don't really know when that happened", but that has made the theory itself not believable enough for me. Also, sorry if I come off as too confrontational or critical. You made a great video, and props for that to you!

A good video, but to call Monomon a ‘god’ just because she has countless jellyfish that only think of her seems like a bit overstatement. Especially within the world of Hollow Knight, things that count as gods, do a lot more than have a few self-created subjects that took over a small patch of Greenpath. Also at the end, it feels you only call Monomon a god because of the ambient bubbles found in Fog Canyon, which is an ok point, but there needs to be more indefinite information to back the claim of her godhood other than, “These bubbles mean Monomon is of a similar stature to that of the Pale King, The Radiance, and The Grimm Heart.” I like to believe Monomon only as a strong bug, better than the most of the bugs that reside in Hallownest, but not that strong to be deemed a god. Also could you put source material in your videos because some of your claims seem like only speculation and not a real fact from the game or from Team Cherry.
@errric_enniawl Жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right about including my reasoning in the videos, a mistake which I'm fixing with my next video. I'll be addressing every question or disagreement from the first two videos' comments, and will be sure yours is addressed. Off the top of my head though: you're right in that it feels like Monomon can't be a god if you look at her actions - they definitely don't feel as big as those of the Radiance or Pale King. However, it's canon that even the Radiance would have disappeared forever if there weren't a few moths who kept the faith. This tells us that what sustains the power of a god is the faith or belief of their tribe (or vassals, in the King's case). There are untold amounts of Jellies in the canyon, and all of them are single-mindedly focused on Monomon, their creator. So is Uumuu, who alone is powerful enough to be considered a "god" by the seeker's criteria. If a higher power as strong as the Radiance could be "killed" simply by being forgotten, then the inverse must be true: if enough beings have faith or reverence or whatever in a single being, they are raised to the level of higher power. After all, that's the crux of the King's plan to become immortal, and why he takes so many actions (King statues, King's Idols, putting his signature 4 spikes everywhere in the kingdom) to ensure the bugs of Hallownest praise him as the one source of their sentience. Thanks for watching, for the constructive criticism, and I hope you'll let me know your thoughts if you watch the upcoming video!

And here I return to state that...once again, you're committing many of the same mistakes from a prior video. 2:27 It is uncertain as to where Monomon's story begins, relative to the founding of Hallownest. We don't know where she was born, let alone if she's a native to the kingdom. 2:30 Nothing ever mentions this supposed meeting between Monomon and PK. The pipe system mentioned is entirely unrelated, and isn't relevant to this story: it is guarded by Ogrim and is disabled by the events of the game. 3:05 Where is it stated that 2 of the 5GK guarded her Archives? This is fabricated. 3:31 Plenty of mortal beings resist and/or are immune to the Infection, such as the Hunter. 3:42 Neither the seals nor the chains holding THK are created with Void. The chains are metal, and we know this based on the sound made when they are struck with TK's nail. 3:44 We don't know, again, what Monomon went through in making her decision. 4:37 Nobody was considerate of if THK was going to fail, because to PK, the plan was inherently true (which was of course shown to be false). There was no "backup" plan. 4:43 Whether or not her lifeforms were powered by Infection, or simply store Infection within themselves, is unknown. 4:54 The timespan between the Elegy's creation/Vessel plan transcription/Uumuu's birth, and her slumber, is unknown. 5:36 The return of the Infection didn't immediately enslave everyone. The Hunter stats that it took "years" for Infection to pool in the Ancient Basin. 6:08 We don't even know if her species is capable of reproduction, so this is completely baseless. 6:36 This is entirely false. The ambient/essence particles of an area do not necessarily correlate to a given influence, let alone a Higher Being (aka: correlation isn't causation). Not all unique Essence colors are via Higher Beings; you ignored a prior comment of mine in this regard: Gray Prince Zote has a unique Essence color despite literally being a fragment of Bretta's mind. This is on top of how Godhome has a unique Essence color despite NONE of the Godseekers themselves being HBs (stated themselves). 7:00 The "strength" of Monomon is completely unknown relative to most other beings, let alone someone such as the White Lady. Again, I ask why you fabricate so much over so little. It's not a good thing to do, because you're unintentionally or not making people confuse your headcanons with the canonical text.
@211aonscratch4 Жыл бұрын
