The God Particles are a cool idea! Makes me excited for the big lore video and your theories on some of the more mysterious areas, like the Ancient Basin and Crystal Peaks!
@errric_enniawl Жыл бұрын
Ooh good area choices. The Ancient Basin in particular is a really interesting area. It looks and feels so dead, but it was the front door to the White Palace during the Golden Age, so it must have gone through a lot of changes

OMG! How are your videos THIS good!? This is really high quality, and you're talking about things in the lore that, to my knowledge, noone really talked about before on this scale. Thank you for the deep dives, and thank you for inspiring me to keep working on my own project! I really hope this channel gets more attention, because you deserve it. Also sorry if this is too much rambling but I need no talk about this or else I'll go crazy because noone seems to be interested in it: have you noticed that, in some areas, the background contains FLOATING PLATFORMS? Like, I can excuse their existence in the gameplay, because they are useful devices that help the player move, but for some reason some of the locations, particularly the Hive and the outsides of the Colloseum, put them in the background, making them a part of the lore. My interepretation is that it has something to do with frozen time, which almost seems to be the case for the Hive, and would also explain all the other floating platforms in the entire game, since Hallownest is said to exist in some sort of stasis. Anyway, again, sorry for the off-topic comment. It's just that I never see someone talking about the lore that hides in the background, and I got very excited to see such a high-quality video about it. Thank you again!
@errric_enniawl Жыл бұрын
Homie, I doubt there's another person on the planet LESS likely to think you're rambling. In my opinion, this is the single most fully-realized 2d game world of all time. I love your theory about frozen time, after all Vespa tells the knight that Hallownest was an effort to fight nature and stop time. Okay here's a fun lore starting point: look at the picture of the Knight's pure pale ore nail, at the patterns etched into it. Then look for those patterns elsewhere, including the ending cinematic for Embrace the Void. Now, what does that imply about the ancient blacksmith found in Kingdom's edge?
@tonythr5093 Жыл бұрын
Interesting! It all draws fun connections between ancient civilisation and the whole 'Pale' deal, be it ore or Higher beings. Both the Knight and PV are basically Pale beings (with just a tiny pinch of Void inside), and I wonder if there is more to the connection between their nature and the ancient civilisation. Afterall, we have evidence to suggest that both void and pale power will play some role in Silksong. As for the ancient nailsmith, I wonder if what they used was actually pale ore and not aomething else. Either way all of it has something to do with the idea of 'purity' and the phylosophical concept of an unachievable goal. I wonder if that's something that also played a role in Ancient civilisation's... whole... deal... Oh wait and I just realized that the ancient nailsmith might actually be the one who forged PV's Pure Nail! Their sizes both check out!
@errric_enniawl Жыл бұрын
Yessssss! I came to the same conclusion about the ancient nailsmith.

@errric Looking forward to the release. If I may make a recommendation, you'll probably get way more traction on your channel if you make them individual episodes and dont say "ep 1, ep 2" etc. let each vid stand on its own but you can put them in a playlist / mention/link the other vids within a vid. Eg "The White Lady's Original Home | Hollow Knight World Building" and in your tags put a bunch of alternate search queries eg "The White Lady before Queen's Garden" "The White Lady Stole Queen's Garden" etc. and since I imagine itll take a while between vids, do remix your vid, eg this one into multiple shorts. On the main videos, your thumbnails will be really important, don't skimp there. Best of luck.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll take all the constructive advice I can get! The approach you suggested is what I'm planning on doing. I'm working on the first timeline episode now and will try to release the whole series with a solid cadence. That'd be easier if I wasn't such a perfectionist 😅

Oh okay, that makes sense! I've made games in Unity (the engine HK uses) and putting 2d assets in a 3d scene with a 3d camera gets you all that nice parallax action with way less work.

I really enjoyed the video, but I have to make a criticism. While I wouldn't say I'm strongly a part of the hk lore community, this is the first time I've heard of "god particles", and because you do little to substantiate this claim, I'm doubtful. As a few points to hopefully evidence my doubt: - Why aren't all particles across hallownest tinted orange to signify the radiance's prominence over the region? They clearly have power over nearly everywhere in hallownest. - Why are forgotten crossroad's particles white? You could say it's because the area was previously reigned over by the pale king, however he clearly holds no dominion there anymore (since he's hidden away in a dream a few miles deeper as a corpse). And if you want to say that the particles reference the history of their rulers, why are the particles in Queen's Gardens not green? - Why are there white particles in deepnest? There's strong evidence to say that Hallownest as a kingdom was strongly adversarial to deepnest, and the pale king, though he tried, was never able to rule in that area. Yet the particles are white. In further contrast to this, fungal wastes and the mantis village have their own particles. FW and DN are both places that resisted hallownest's dominance and stayed independent, yet one has unique particles and the other doesn't. - Why are the particles of fungal wastes and crystal peaks different? You attributed the particles to the higher being that resides in the area, yet both these areas lack any distinct higher being to set those particles. - In my exploration, I noticed the particles of QG are distinct from most other places in hallownest. While both being white, QG's particles are significantly larger and fuzzier. Why? If this is because of the area being under the power of the white lady rather than the pale king? If so, why is Queen's station still using the small white particles of the rest of hallownest? - Why are the particles in the resting grounds white? That area was previously (and kind of still is) under the residence of the moth tribe, who worship the radiance. However, their particles don't match that history. Shouldn't these particles be referencing the radiance? I hope my points aren't interpreted as harsh or demeaning. I intend this message to be a way to improve your videos and evidence for your claims. Other than this, your work is wonderful, please continue! I'm excited to watch your full timeline when that releases. (One last thing, I hope you will bring more evidence to your claims in the future. While presenting the story of hallownest is important, I feel that skipping on evidence may lead many to doubt your story and would make it more difficult for your ideas to find their way into the community's working theories on this game's beautiful lore.)
@errric_enniawl Жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching and commenting! You're absolutely right about including explanations in each video. My next video will include explanations for my first two videos alongside any new claims I make in that video. I'm making a list of all the questions and issues people have raised and will make sure to address all of yours. To your main point: there are a lot of areas with disorganized, tiny white particles. None of those areas have a corresponding higher power, and the way I've been thinking of those particles is basically loose bits of aimless soul just floating around. Here's a question for you (not because I'm trying to lead you to a conclusion, but because you seem to have a super solid grasp of the game): We know void doesn't like being disconnected or loose. So why are there such organized void particles floating upward in the Abyss and Basin? If my god particles theory is correct, it's because the void is quite strong and getting stronger, with all the shades down in the Abyss. But I'm genuinely curious what you think.
@Ender-vx8zq Жыл бұрын
@@errric_enniawl Thank you for responding! In response to your question, I haven't heard before of the idea that "void doesn't like being disconnected or loose". While void does primarily exist together in larger collections, I don't see that alone as evidence to say that void "dislikes" being more sparse. Do let me know if I'm missing something here. You could also say that, because void is so densely spread in the abyss, that it inevitably finds itself scattered about as particles, similar to how some molecules in liquids will naturally "escape" the liquid form and become part of the ambient gas around (see "vapor pressure").
