I finnally realised what feels so wrong, when you're looking at the first trailers. Not the tiny NPC's, not the cut content, but saturation of the colors. First trailers, were entirely blue, everything had something like a blue filter on it. Then trailers were bursting with colors a bit too much. And now, it's perfectly balanced, as all things should be

During development, Team Cherry actually when through a cycle of "work towards a finished product." -> "Expand on that" -> "repeat" This was done so that a TC could stop development if they wanted to and still be able to release a finished game. Kingdom's Edge and the Ancient Basin most certainly didn't exist at that point, but the broken vessel and hoppers did.
