“retinas can’t function while invisible” ...so we are assuming light passes through him rather than being refracted? he is not losing mass or any other physiological change aside from his ability to be seen. as the means for invisibility, he simply can’t be seen, so we must assume refraction. a) the retina does not need to absorb or reflect light to function, it simply needs to process the information contained in the light entering it b) it’s a fictional movie, so if it says he is invisible, in this films universe thats possible, and if it says he can see, then similar logic dictates that he should be able to.

I agree. I’m not sure what the hate on this movie is about. I’ve read some reviews and from what I can tell it has something to do with the invisible man not being a complex villain enough or something. Many critics didn’t like the fact that he started killing people at the end because the film suddenly became a generic slasher just with an invisible guy. I sort of get what they’re saying, but come on. The fact that you’re being hunted by someone you can’t see is pretty scary. And what else did you expect with this story? An invisible person is either going to use his/her powers for good or evil. Where they looking for some deep character study or something?

James hit on a lot of what ticked me off about the movie, how invincible the Hollow man suddenly was for no reason. Also, and there was a very obvious way to try and combat the Hollow man, that I don't recall the scientists ever even considering. Turn yourselves invisible too. How? By using the experiment on themselves? No. Altering the fabric of time, reality, and space? No. Just...turn off the damn lights. Sure, you still can't see him (assuming he countered the goggles by this point) but now he can't see you either. I guess this has been done before (I remember either an episode of Batman or G.I. Joe doing this to combat invisible opponents) but it seemed very obvious to me, and I was frustrated that the scientists never tried it.

I'm not a physics guy, but even as a kid I always thought it weird in that movie that you could see the invisible man if he was covered in water and in smoke but unable to see anything at all when in contact with air. Air isnt empty, it has water and other components in it. I would guess that while his body might be totally invisible, you'd still be able to make out some outline from the contact between his body and the air. But then another question is: what about normal everyday stuff like sweating, oily skin and getting your hands dirty from touching everything? Surely there's some distinct parts of the body that would be visible because of other substances stuck to them. The only way I'd guess the invisible man can be fully invisible is that he would have to be super sparkling clean and naked in space . But then why even eh?
@NotcNorck6 жыл бұрын
It is just my head canon but I always considered that the invisibility serum also could have gave you more strength. You know, they were making that thing for the military and their goal was to make a super soldier. And although invisible, being butt naked in a battle field or even just out doors during some climate situations can be a bit of a danger so they had to add a bit more "juice" for practicality.
@MrStabby198126 жыл бұрын
NotcNorck agreed unless your born into a tribe that's used to being naked. 99% of the time it would be dangerous step on a rusty nail and it turns septic that would be fun trying to fix in the middle of enemy territory while invisible.

It's normally not her type of movie, so we rented it. At the end of the movie my mom actually said she loved it. Then I hear some of my friends say that they hated it. With my friends it was half and half, half of them (like me) very much enjoyed it, and the other half hated it. Like you James we didn't know why they hated it so much. I would like to see you do a review on the second one now.... if it's possible. I want to see if you feel the same way about the second one as I do.

I've seen this movie before. Where this character is invisible it kills someone. I kinda enjoyed it

walco DE BRUYN - There are two movies I would love for him to take a look at, and they are the Andy Warhol-produced Flesh for Frankenstein and Blood for Dracula.

Sleeping invisible in my opinion isn't a problem just color your eyelids with paint or a marker (Make sure it's washable tho)

The problem is how can we paint them when we Can't even see them 🤷

You should do a review on Stir of Echoes with Kevin Bacon. Still scares the shit outta me.

It was buried by Sixth Sense like The Thing was buried by ET. A really good film that flew under the radar.

@@WarlordRising The Sixth Sense was pretty predictable in my opinion, I thought Unbreakable was Shyamalan's best work overall. Stir of Echoes walks all over The Sixth Sense.

Chevy Chase mentioned being able to see through his eyelids years before this movie in Memoirs of an Invisible Man .

Who remembers Memoirs of an Invisible Man with Chevy Chase and Darryl Hannah? Saw in theaters when I was ten and the only thing I remember was that he could only eat or drink clear/ invisible stuff. Yes I'm sure there was strong Crystal Pepsi product placement...

Another great horror review!! I'm glad you still do somethimg special every October. Even if it's not a full fledged every day Monster Madness, it's so satisfying and definately part of my Halloween tradition. Let's be real, it was insane that you used to do a review for every day of October! Seriously, you went above and beyond with the work you did in the years past! We fans aren't worthy! So I really want to emphasize how happy and content I am with us still receiving something for Monster Madness at all. I'm really interested in your future works, especially your atmospheric horror project and your autobiography. Thank you for keeping the Holloween tradition alive!
