Oh man I'm excited for you to play this series Hollow! I went back a couple of weeks to finally complete this game and platinum it and although it has some basic gameplay mechanics the graphics still hold up very well. Visually this game was ahead of its times and it's still stunning to this day. I heard some rumors about a possible sequel in development and I hope it's true because the lore and character building has so much untouched potential in it. This series is going to be dope🔥

This game needs a second chance. I never finished it for it’s emptiness, not so good story, and repetitive gameplay. BUT, it’s still 6 years later one of the visually most striking game ever created. Can’t imagine what this team could do today. And the atmosphere and world they created is absolutely breath taking ! Thanks to you I’m going to play it entirely this time. Finger crossed for a sequel that fixes all the little flaws.

15:56 The black borders weren't there for cinematic purposes. It was a way to cut down the number of pixels drawn per frame (-30%). The frame rate was already low and unreliable like this on PS4, so you can imagine how bad it would have been with full stress on the system.

@15:15 The black borders served two purposes, one being that it looks cinematic and the other that it allows for the game to remain at the same pixel density as 1080p while also being a significantly lower resolution(800p) for performance reasons. I think it's a clever solution as it's an artistic choice with a practical benefit.

Ryse Son of Rome is a very fun game -> awesome executions during combat, cool Roman setting, I personally like gladiator mode. The only knock on it is that the combat gets repetitive and the story is ok.
