Holly Loses it Over 'Demonic' Chihuahua's Adoption Plea | This Morning

This Morning

3 жыл бұрын

Dog fosterer Tyfanee Fortuna has helped rehome many dogs in her time, but none like ‘demonic’ chihuahua Prancer. She says that the two year-old gremlin pooch held her family hostage for 6 months, and likened him to a haunted Victorian child in the body of a small dog that hates men, children and other animals. In a desperate plea for new owners, she told anyone who has a husband, or children not to apply, and described his ideal owners as either a single woman, or a lesbian couple. The warts and all advert didn’t put off single lesbian Ariel Davis, who adopted Prancer from Second Chance Pet Adoption League nine days ago. Ariel joins us alongside Tyfanee today to tell us why they’re the pawfect match.

Awww that's a little unfair😂 I have a 3yr old gorgeous baby girl, and she is such a good dog. She's quite timid and doesn't like being picked up, but she's tiny so I don't blame her, it must be scary being so small. She has only barked about 3 times in her life, growled a few times when playing. She's so much fun, and I wouldn't change her for the world!💖

Might not be treats but part of his dinner. We used to do that with our dog, very similar behaviour, sassy, barking, nipping, very food motivated (she's a rescue) so we'd feed her parts of her dinner through out the day as snacks. She's older now and has stomach cancer so she gets a buffet of food avail at all times, naturally.

I used to be a visiting nurse who went to peoples homes to provide care and treatment, etc. A lot of the patients I visited had dogs. It wasn’t the people with big dogs like pit bulls, Rottweilers, etc., that I minded visiting it was the ones with chihuahuas. They are so possessive and protective of their owners that they have a tendency to snarl and bite. I’ve owned dogs (including a wolf hybrid whom I had for 14 years) and dealt with dogs all my life but I’ve only ever been bitten by chihuahuas. Good thing I think they’re cute.

@liswane
@liswane 3 жыл бұрын
it is sad, but it's also justified. the pets would be far worse if they weren't placed with someone else. the reason they separate them is because the elderly person cannot even care for themselves, much less for a pet. And you can't expect the already underpaid social workers or nurses to care for the person plus their pet as well. it's def a sad thing, but at least there's hope for the pet to be fostered and eventually find another family who adores it.

In my experience chihuahuas are afraid of everyone because they're so small, but if you make them feel comfortable and safe with you they relax and are very affectionate. I've even met other people's chihuahuas that allowed me to hold them soon after meeting them for the first timd despite going nuts if anyone else tried to get close. I don't know exactly why dogs seem to like me, but I think it might be because I'm so comfortable around them that they pick up on the vibes and decide I'm friendly.

One of the things I enjoy about KZbin is reading the comment section of a video I'm watching, for better or for worse, especially on videos where I would love to get a perspective on what people think. Whenever I come across a video where the comment section is turned off I do have a slight feeling of loneliness and boredom (as weird as it sounds, no I'm not joking). Videos like tv broadcast clips like these especially are one of those things where I want to read what people think, even if its of opinion that I disagree with. I have to sometimes search for mirror uploads to get a better idea of how people are feeling, so shoutout to ITV for FINALLY opening the comments for your audiences to do as such. If it was a mistake on behalf your social media management, if you are reading this...PLEASE KEEP IT THIS WAY!

So I shall take the opportunity to say thanks Philip and Holly and Allison and everyone on This Morning. I’m in Australia and had never heard of the show before, but stumbled across it last year and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve had a tough year, nothing to do with the pandemic just a really hard year, and you’ve brought some joy into my life, made me laugh, made me cry and made me see that I would get through this and the hurt would ease with time. And the empathy they both have for people who have been through hard times is beautiful to see. There’s not enough of that in this world. And their giggle fits are just fabulous! And Allison’s laugh! I breed chihuahuas and they are absolutely fantastic dogs, the problem is people. They treat them like toys or babies instead of dogs. They are small, you need to train them and show them that they don't need to be fearful. But chihuahuas make excellent companions, family dogs and agility dogs. It's so sad and annoying the amount of misinformation about the breed.

I agree people are the problem. Breeders belong to the problematic type of humans. Hope you are at least as honest to the buyers about the complications and don't try to be like "Oh no, the Chihuahuas I breed have none of those well known problems. This is a myth! If you breed under the moonlight and take extra care they will have non of those genetic issuses :) Everyone else does it wrong but I do it right. Breeding is sooo fullfilling." While in the meantime the shelters get fuller and fuller. Adopt don't shop and certainly don't breed. Would never take advice from a breeder because they must be ignorant in order to do that.

@@RobovieMann I'm sorry but you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You blindly follow the adopt don't shop without any knowledge about reputable breeders. Keeping breed standard is important and many people are looking for specific breeds to do specific breed based jobs and adopting from a shelter can not guarantee that. Adopting and Buying from a reputable breeder are both good. If you are talking about puppy mills or backyard breeders then yes, I fully agree with you that they should not be bought from or condoned. Considering I have rescued and adopted over 20 dogs, half of them being seniors as well as worked with dogs and rescues for over 15 years now as well as breed health tested and breed standard dogs I know both sides very well thanks and both have merit depending on what you are looking for in a dog.

@@Iminsideyourwall_ If you want to adopt, I'm all for it, I've adopted many many many times as well as worked with many rescues. But if you also want a dog from a reputable breeder there isn't anything wrong with that either.

Chihuahuas can make excellent dogs, easily. The problem is owners thinking that because Chihuahuas are small they don't need training. Hence the dog gets confusing signals and lives in distress most of the time, which leads to unwanted behaviour. It's the owner's fault

Prancer was possibly abused by a male at some point?? I’m happy that he found Ariel bc it’s clear that Tyfanee’s home was incredibly high stress esp being thrown into that environment with no acclamation. No dog does well under stress but especially the stressors that are unique to them! Prancer has found his happy forever home and is helping Ariel just as much as she helps him. I believe with time and continued work with a trainer, that Prancer will one day soon be able to get along well with males. Fingers crossed!
