As of November 2021, Holly and I are no longer together. We are still on good terms and friends but no longer a couple. I hope that out of respect for both of us, you continue the same generous kindness to us individually that you’ve expressed over the years. Please respect whatever boundaries Holly decides to make with the internet. I am grateful for her past involvement in my content.

" ita" phase? I'm new please help
@edwardtheinsane5 жыл бұрын
Patchwork Undead Hey! It’s a somewhat derogatory term for someone who hasn’t quite got the hang of lolita yet. Usually they’ve broken some “rule” like no petticoat or have implemented costume-y elements into their coordinate. It’s common to start out a little bumpy when getting into the fashion, since there are so many pieces required for a full coordinate. Most lolita’s have an “ita” phase when they first start. Or it used to be more common when there was not as much info online or as many people to help out new folks. Do lots of research and ask for advice and you may be able to skip the “ita” phase too! Haha. And watch all of Lor’s videos and you can’t go wrong!

I love that you've been documenting Holly's journey into Lolita fashion. I would love to hear more about her experiences coming into the fashion and coming into it as a tall girl. I could identify with her when you filmed dressing her in a coordinate and she almost got emotional that she was too tall for it. I think tall girls can sometimes be pressured to be dressed more poised or sexy, rather than cute. Anyways... I love it when you guys film together! Your relationship is so sweet!

@chatterbox10785 жыл бұрын
I seriously don't understand people's problem when it comes to treating people differently when they're in cosplay. Like, they're a person too, you wouldn't walk up to a girl on the street and smack them with a paddle just because she had makeup on, so why would you do that with cosplayers? (I'm really glad that yaoi paddles are banned at most conventions so, since I'm a beginner cosplayer I don't have to deal with that, it sounds super painful and uncomfortable.)
@peterevans64804 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I used to think furries were cringe and weird but lately Ive stopped caring and I’ve started respecting them more. I changed my mindset to ‘Ask long as no one is hurt it’s ok.’ and I have felt soo much better about myself. Idc if you’re a furry, if you’re a kind person I have nothing against you. Also that mindset of mine has really strengthened since getting into lolita. I feel like people who are alt understand (or at least should) and accept more different styles and I feel like everyone should be like that.

As a newbie lolita who's starting to build her wardrobe I agree with what Holly is saying and what you say about having a someone new to the fashion express their feelings about how people view the fashion, also, seeing Holly in lolita is so nice because most lolitas online are well into the fashion and have been for a long time so it's less intimidating for people like me who are slowly sliding into the fashion because someone else new is talking about it, sorry if this doesn't make sense but I appreciated this.

@princecharmless49644 жыл бұрын
KZbin recommended this video to me just today out of the blue, which was odd because periodically I think about this documentary now and then but I didn't realize it was made in 2013. I thought it was more recent than that, but it was such a long time ago. During that time I was in one of the most abusive relationships I'd ever been in and I was living in a very toxic abusive home situation as well. I never talked about it, but going to meets and hanging out with the others of the LA Lolita Comm and enjoying Lolita Fashion itself was one of the few things that brought me joy during that time. Looking back on this now, I do agree with the sentiment that this was less a Lolita Documentary and more of a People That Wear This Fashion and Who They Are Documentary, and at the time I was a bit bothered by that. But looking back on it now in 2020, that doesn't completely bother me anymore? It was just very nice to look back and see a mini-reel in time of all of the people I've made friends with over the years, who are still in my life, but whom I should actually reach out to now that I'm in a better place. Despite it not having been the documentary that you wished for, it's still a lovely look back in time, especially now that Fairytale Boutique is no longer in business ( ugh, rest in pieces ). I'm grateful that I could be part of this in a small way with the people of my community who I'm really missing in 2020. Thank you so much for continuing to be a delightful person.

I think it's understandable for people who don't know much if anything about Jfashion/alt fashion, to see it and think it's a costume. The first time I saw someone in lolita I thought it was a costume. I'd never seen anything like it before, and also the place I saw them was at a friends birthday that was 'Mad hatters tea party' themed. So I assumed it was an Alice inspired costume. I remember asking a friend about it (as I didn't know the lolita) and she said 'that's just what she like to wear'. Which is cool, but I wish i'd had been told more about so I could have learnt more about it at the time.

I watched this documentary first when I finally decided to embrace my inner lolita. I cried because I come from a situation similar to Jordi(?); whenever I had an interest in anything considered "not normal", my parents hated it and it would cause a lot of problems. Ever since I was little, I wanted circle lenses. I was told they were weird, immature, and for "those people". To this day, I have no idea what that means. I kept dreaming about it for fifteen years before I finally decided to do my own thing and to heck with everyone's opinions. I constantly hear that I'm "never going to find someone dressed like that" or "if anyone finds out you do that/are into that, they'll leave you." I'm still fighting with it and I'm sure once they see me in a full coord, it'll cause problems. Sorry, I went off there, but I know I'm not alone in this. If you're in a similar situation, I'm sorry but also know it will get better. If it makes you happy, hold on to it.
