Truly Criminal

Жыл бұрын

Soham, Cambridgeshire, England. A warm summers evening in August, 2002.
Two 10 year old girls are reported missing after leaving their house to go and buy sweets. They knew the area well, everyone knew them and given their conscientious nature, suddenly going missing, was more than just out of character...

It’s ironic that we’re taught about “stranger danger” but 95% of people who are murdered, are murdered by someone they know and with him being a caretaker in a school, he’s someone they should’ve been able to trust.

This is evil no one can escape God judgment of condemnation if they don't repent of their sins no matter what sin Do you know Jesus Christ can set you free from sins and save you from hell today Jesus Christ is the only hope in this world no other gods will lead you to heaven There is no security or hope with out Jesus Christ in this world come and repent of all sins today Today is the day of salvation come to the loving savior Today repent and do not go to hell Come to Jesus Christ today Jesus Christ is only way to heaven Repent and follow him today seek his heart Jesus Christ can fill the emptiness he can fill the void Heaven and hell is real cone to the loving savior today Today is the day of salvation tomorrow might be to late come to the loving savior today Romans 6.23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Mark 1.15 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Hebrews 11:6 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Jesus

This was so important at the time the large group of managers in the Social Service department had the three day working group to try to create a Interview and Selection process which was fail proof to reject anyone with a history of of child sexual abuse. They failed. References could be false or past employers could have no knowledge of the persons past history. It all fell down to their having a clean police report. The police may have no knowledge. Being asked during interview if they had any such past. If they say no, that was that. Future employers could be totally unaware that they were recruiting a preditor. The crimes escalate in time until murder. So sad.

I will never be able to forget about these two beautiful girls, you see on the 5th of Aug 2002 I gave birth to my twin girls whom I named Jessie and Hollie. When I was released from hospital two days later i remember watching the news about their disappearance and I couldn’t believe that I had given my baby girls the same names. I know it’s nothing more than just an amazing coincidence. I did consider changing their names as they hadn’t been legally registered at that point and I didn’t want people to think that I had called them after Jessica and holly, but decided against it. Some people have told me that it was so much more than just a coincidence and maybe it was. I had chosen their names as soon as I was told I was carrying twins. My heart still hurts for Holly and Jessica’s parents. I hope this monster is never released from prison.

I understanding how someone can look into the eyes of another and kill them even if it is a child. What I wonder is how can they then go on TV shows and deny it and convince everyone they had no part of it. Ted Bundy for example use to take part in the police search for someone he had killed. People who knew him said he was a gentleman who was sweet and caring. Chris Watts another example. Killed his wife and two kids then went on tv saying he didn't know where they were and just wanted them to come back. There is a video of him getting asked questions by the police. 3 hours he denied it. Even filed a lie dedicator test and still said he didn't do it. For me that is what is most interesting. How do they blank what they have done out?

His girlfriend went above and beyond helping him to conceal the crime - from cleaning the evidence, to sickening deception of public with showing the letter poor girl wrote to her. She is just as deserving of contempt. I didn't know about this case; it really made me cry. They were just two little girls in a place where they should have been safe. The day they were found, I was out playing with my friends and we saw all our parents coming towards the park where we were. They said we had to come home immediately. Thought we were all in trouble. My mam sat me down and told me that they had been found. I was initially happy , but then she told me, as best she could, what happened. I still remember the way she hugged me afterwards and begged me to never go anywhere with someone without her permission. ❤ my friends had the same chats with their parents. Reflecting back, it was terrifying for our parents.. to think it wasn’t a stranger, but someone they knew. We all had to be home before dinner every day after that.. no more staying out until dark. The thing with maxine referring to the girls in past tense is that the journalist did too - the interview starts off, with him asking, "what WERE they like?" And maxine forms her answer. Im just saying that it is actually quite common to refer to people in the past tense because every memory we have of them is in the past. So although i do think some killers slip up and refer to victimd in a more obvious context sometimes, i also know that past tense is used commonly to describe... well, events in the past. "She WAS nice," can just as easily mean that someone is dipping into memories from the past to form an opinion and statement about that person, as it could mean "i know that person is gone and never coming back." Imo past tense speech can be a red flag but i really dont think its this smoking gun that many seem to think.
@riggs20
@riggs20 Жыл бұрын
I agree. I’m not making any excuses for Maxine of course, she obviously knew more than she admitted. But I’ve heard several stories where someone referring to a missing person in the past tense is used as a red flag. I agree that this is not necessarily so. It’s all in how the question is framed.

There's a lot of pseudopsychology around true crime communities, you can't really escape it. I think because online crime communities can get much more in depth, you can't get away with "I've got a hunch" as easy as you can in a casual chat down the pub, so people come up with essentially superstitions they try and make sound like, as you say, smoking guns. Most killers who aren't crimes of opportunity offenders are largely going to be manipulative people also, so you can't really always read into their words too deeply.

I remember this tragedy very well as i was working delivering in the Soham area at the time. It gripped everyone, i was looking out for anything red. I remember after they was found i drove into Soham to buy flowers for them. As i drove in i saw grown men walking away crying their eyes out and i mean tough looking men. I found a florist, bought some flowers, i was offered the £15 change but i said put it in the collection. As i drove out past the church which was a sea of flowers i asked an elderly couple if they could put my flowers with the rest which they did. For example a girl was snatched from my primary school when I was little. I can’t find anything on it anywhere it was like the child didn’t exist or matter anymore. I was almost also snatched by the same man I saw took her. Nothing everyone blamed me for speaking to the man when actually I was protecting myself n delaying him from taking me until a teacher helped me. I knew I couldn’t outrun a grown man. I can go on about other similar experiences. I been through my own abuse too at hands of family members. But when they attacked a little girl outside of home suddenly that mother n police cared. But no one cared about my abuse nor what I endured. Not even in adulthood. I’m actually lucky to be alive today,

Along with the rest of the country I was upset with this case at the time. The other day Huntleys name cropped up on a short video clip ,in it a former prison medic mentioned prisoners crapping in food earmarked for him and he was laughing.However you're not going to like what I'm going to write next. I was on holiday in Thailand in 2009. I've old schoolfriends that live there. They're in the military but have Thai wives. We were in a bar in Sattahip, talking with some American servicemen.One of them brought up Huntleys name, and I instinctively said (something like) 'oh, the Soham murders'. I was quickly corrected by one who added. 'No those two girls were killed near raf Lakenheath, Sohams about 15 clicks (km) away'. I sat down to hear him say the killer was one of their own,told me his name,rank and that it was common knowledge in the US forces.He was the main suspect in a case of a young girl killed in Okinawa,Japan where he was previously based.In fact there's been huge protests over there regarding that and for the US forces to leave. Them and Japanese police couldn't find enough evidence on him and he was relocated to England. I asked why if they knew who is was,why not nick him? He said when the girls were killed there'd been 'don't attack Iraq' protests in UK with 3million in total taking to the streets and if it came to light it'd been one of theirs that had done that public opinion against helping the US would take a massive hit. What about evidence on him? I asked. 'There was none, apart from a piece of an XL man utd jersey, get this,placed in the bin outside the front door of the school where he worked, he's another (Lee Harvey) Oswald, a f#*#in patsy,plus his 'confession' came after he'd been held in psych ward for a week,where they could have put any sort of mind altering meds in his food'. It'll come out ,the truth,long after Huntley gets murdered. Now our governments lied to us over countless things over the years, and just because 'what happened' in this case was on the news most people believe it.But given what he's meant to have done nobody's gonna stand up for Huntley ,are they?

I'm so glad that background checks are more thorough these days in education (a sector I now work in). Parents send their children to school presuming it is 100% safe. Their grief must have been unbearable and I hope time has eased their pain (even though it will never go away). Holly and Jessica will never be forgotten, always loved deeply ❤️

The absolutely audacity of him telling that rubbish about one of the girls having a nose bleed and him “accidentally slipping on the water from bathing his dog and then one of the girls drowned”…I just can’t even begin to fathom. He enjoyed all of the attention he got from doing interview after interview. He smirked and smiled into the camera, lying his ass off.

she fell in and couldn't get out. the shock of falling made her pass out. and when ian came to check on her it was too late, then holly screamed and he said "it is ok! don't look!" and he tried to cover her mouth and eyes with a tea towel, while he frantically looked for the phone to call ambulance but he held it on her too long and then he panicked and lied as it was two accidents.

Should have been a major Red Flag to everyone the moment he said that he only wanted the interview to go local and not national. Didn't that scream loud and clear "hey l have a dark past and don't want it to catch up with me". As for his experiences in prison - never dish out what you can't take back.

If there is one thing i learned from watching hundreds of crimes stories is that One of the characters of a cold blooded criminal is to be included in the searching or interview. They would be often seen lurking around or asking about the progress of the case. This is sad story rest in peace to both girls. On the lighter part, i find that David was so nice of him to even play a part in finding the girls.

I remember a few months after this case. A few friends and i being 13 thinking we were grown. Decided to walk home from the cinema really late at night. My friends poor mother was going insane looking for us. Still remember we were more embarrassed in front of boys we liked when she finally found us and screamed at us. But in hindsight she was probably thinking of this case front and foremost. So many of us were so deeply affected after Holly and Jessica and Sarah Payne. These monsters didn't get enough punishment for their crime

Rachel Jay his interviews were NOT convincing he had a guilty look which I said at the first time that he was guilty. That woman named carr must have lured the poor girls into the house to be killed.,because the girls trusted her.Yet she got minimum time and a new identity absolutely got away with being an accomplice to murder.Sickening that she knew the girls were already dead but convincingly feigned innocence in front of the camera.That ugly vile woman is free after serving 6months.Meanwhile I do hope Huntley is dealt justice by the prisoners if ever they get the chance.
