Being in Cambridge for 4 years and about to start the 5th year (I’m a vet), I’ve never felt so close to the past Holly 😢 I didn’t understand your life style at all when I was watching your videos while I was still in high school. I only understood it all when I came here myself. It’s just a place where you can’t stop. I’ve not had a single day here when I felt rest is justified. When I’m in the bubble, I’m actually fine by forcing myself to forget about everything other than studying. I don’t feel pain until long summer breaks when it’s like suddenly emerging from the deep water. Then I’d realize life is actually not just grades in Cambridge but actually has so much more - friends and family, traveling, hobbies…… The only way I (barely) survived Cambridge was and still is by burying my true self, the one who always craves new adventures and values close relationships. I never believed that uni life should compose of only studying, and I naively thought I could combat the Cambridge toxicity; yet I failed disastrously. 4 years past and I still haven’t found a way to enjoy life here. What’s worse is that I feel like my uni years have been wasted, as one can only have such short periods in their lifetime to explore the world with hope and faith. I feel like my ability to love, to laugh and to believe in a bright future has already been deprived permanently. Saying all these, I could only let myself think like this for 20 minutes. Then I have to neatly bury myself back again and keep grinding 💔

I remember watching your study videos and trying so much to be like you, I wasn’t in cambridge or anything but you just really inspired me to study and there was something about how your handwriting was so straight on plain paper that left me puzzled😂

It was so interesting to see your study videos when you were a student at Cambridge. It is good to see older videos of yourself while you were a student. Of course, I would love you to show old videos of yourself and see how you have grown and changed.

as someone currently struggling with chronic fatigue, I found myself experiencing a lot of difficult emotions while watching this. I had a few years where I was able to work long hours, but now I don't know if I will ever be well enough to accomplish my goals. I just hope that I can still make myself proud in some way.

omgg Holly I actually have to be honest I forgot your name for so long (very sorry) and I always wanted to rewatch ur old videos so I'm so happy that this video just popped up on my timeline!!! I've loovvedd your Cambridge studying videos and it inspired me sm for school and uni. If I remember correctly you have always written your notes on blank paper and bc of you I started that as well and I still do my notes on blank paper. It's so beautiful how grown up you are and honestly reflecting you are about yourself but also being proud of what you've achieved with a sometimes maybe unhealthy lifestyle. Personally for me your videos very inspired me back then to be more productive bc I've always struggled with stamina whilst studying. I'm gonna rewatch your old videos now and in the next few weeks it's so nostalgic. So happy and grateful to have stumbled upon your channel once again. 🩷☀

Ahhh, Holly is having her Heraclitean moment, realizing she cannot in fact step into the same river twice. It's amazing the kinds of reactions that are generated from looking at yourself in the rearview mirror as an older person (with security). This is my first time on your channel 🙂. I'm liking it so far. I am curious about students in the natural sciences and STEM fields on KZbin though. I'm following people with literature, writing and art vlogs for the most part, then some, and they all think they're 'geniuses' breaking new ground. Refreshing to get a taste of minds actually pushing the boundary of knowledge

You looked so sad and like you said robotic, I wish academic culture normalised lower workloads so we didn't have to push push push and could focus on feeling better in ourselves - if you ever want to make a video addressing these things it would be interesting to hear your perspective on it!

Unfortunately Cambridge doesn’t care about shit. They’re always like ‘if you can’t keep up with a good mental health, it probably means that you’re the wrong candidate for our uni and you’d better quit’ ☺️
@_astrog1372 ай бұрын
One of my friends had severe depression here and wanted to apply for a gap year, and she literally battled with her supervisors, tutors and college management people for two months so that she wouldn’t be forced to quit. They just told her to quit because she had depression…… She was traumatized even more after this, but now that she finally graduated she’s got much much better.

Hello sister, I am an undergraduate student from China currently in my sophomore year. I have been watching your videos to motivate myself to learn since my last year of high school. However, before our country had an intranet, I couldn't log in to KZbin, so I could only watch our domestic reposted videos. Now that I have finally logged in to KZbin, the first person I pay attention to is you. Sister, you are a Cambridge top student with excellent self-discipline and a role model for many Chinese students. Now that I am in my second year of university, I am also very confused about the future. I hope sister can reply to me, how can I plan my future path well? thank you.
