Dustin these seem faster to set up than the dji mics , with the dji mic set you can connect a Lav to it but other than that what are the advantages and disadvantages of the dji mic system ?

I haven't reviewed the Dji options, so I can't say for certain.

Excellent video and decisive for me to purchase a Hollyland as well. Do still have a question: imagine that through the app you have set the volume to, say, 3 and the noise reduction to weak. Now I want to connect the microphone to my DJI RC controller but can't use the app. Does the microphone automatically take the last setting of the app settings? So volume setting 3 and noise reduction weak or does it then go to preset defaults? Greetings from the Netherlands.
@DustinAbbottTWI Жыл бұрын
Hmmm, I’m not 100% sure about that. My experience has been that whatever the last settings were are typically the default settings the next time you use the mic.

@@DustinAbbottTWI Ok, thanks for your answer and that would be great if that is really the case. In any case, I am going to order it after my holiday and then I will experience it. Greetings Ronald

Dustin, by now I have the Lark C1 in and am testing it. Great sound by the way. Answer to my own question is: For example, if you set sound level 5 and noise cancel to strong via the app you will see that that data is saved. Where that is stored I don't know but I assume in the transmitter. If you now plug the transmitter into the DJI RC controller you will record sound in that last saved state. So level 5 and cancellation on strong. If you want to change to cancellation weak you need to put the transmitter in the phone and use the app to change to weak. This is saved and you can then use that state in the RC controller or another phone without using the app. Pretty simple but easy. Greetings Ronald

Can you use it for regular phone calls?

I don't see why not. I haven't tested it for that application, though I have used it for Zoom and Facetime.

A killer feature would be if you could plug it into a DSLR and use it as a lav mic for a real camera. I'd like to have the flexibility of using my Sony A7iii or my iPhone.

The M1 has that feature that you can plug to any a dslr, android or iOS devices. The C1 is specifically for iOS.

@@seanmobley4808 Not sure about Android bro cos I use iPhone. Had to return this device since it's really awful in windy situations. Get the DJI Wireless mic instead.

Hollyland really gets a lot of coverage on KZbin. I wish my personal experience would be more positive. I got a Lark 150 dual microphone kit for work, but I have so many issues with that which none of the reviewers seemed to have. The first one did not charge on one of the transmitter bays, on the second one the transmitters drain the battery of the charging kit over just one night. I always have to shut them off manually and store them outside of the case, which kind of defeats the whole point of the case. Also, the range is a huge problem. Just five metres in front of the camera I have to mount the transmitter in front of my body facing the camera. If I put it in my back pocket, the signal drops instantly. I am really surprised to see you standing so far away and not having any issues with this kit. Maybe it is better than the Lark 150, maybe you have a golden sample.

I will note that their newer M1 and C1 mics definitely have better range. But I've also had zero long term issues with my Lark 150s. I've used them dozens if not hundreds of times without charging issue. You may have gotten a lemon, unfortunately.
