Wow…well, thank you all for 10,000 subscribers, first of all! Sorry I’m a little late with this video, but perhaps the length will explain some of why it took so long. Although let’s face it, me explaining even most of the reasons I love Hollyleaf and the ideas I see for her was always going to take a long time. I hope you will enjoy it regardless. This may well be the topic I am more passionate about than any other in Warriors.

Holly leaf has always been my favorite of the siblings and not just because I thought she was squirrelflight's daughter and gravitate towards to female characters. I've always loved how her story went up to er return. You're right she should have confessed. I wish she wouldn't have forgiven leafpool at first and instead forgiven squirrelflight, how she still would always think of as her mother. And maybe we could get a seen of dovewing spying on her talking to her real mom. Also I love your interpretation of her and I really wish it was canon. If it was then I could easily see her being in my top five or even three favorite characters. I do plan on reading paws of stars, I've been debating, but now seeing how you'll use hollyleaf I'm going to!

18:00 I love the symbolism that scene has as it reflects Leafpool and Hollyleaf's relationship. Leaf was only able to take care of holly for a short while and then was attacked by Holly in adulthood

What still bugs me in regards to Jayfeather is that I don't think any of his family congratulated him when he earned his name. That makes me very sad. I know this is a bit out of nowhere, the thought just hit me.

Which do you think would be easier for me, to die or to go on living?' There was only one answer to that question. Silently, Hollyleaf stood aside, and Leafpool padded past her and out of the den." That was the moment Hollyleaf realized she was the coward all around. She couldn't go on knowing what she knew about her lineage, how it had ruined her dreams and would bring her shame rather than honor in her clan. All she could do was try to escape, and that was the true tragedy of her character.

Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks Hollyleaf's redemption arc is disappointing. She ran away to avoid the consequences of her actions and to avoid facing the reality that she was wrong. And oots just has Brambleclaw lie for her. What trash. I love Holyleaf and she deserves a better story. Also I don't think that Hollyleaf's willingness to break the warrior code in Dark River is a character inconsistency. Hollyleaf may have held the code in high regard, but she also had a moral compass. She wanted to help people even if it meant breaking ruls sometime. Early on in her life she actually was better at balancing the code and her personal moral compass. Where she begins to fall is when she starts to over rely on the code to make decisions instead of her own moral compass. Ever wonder why Hollyleaf and Willowshine's friendship phases out? Its because at the end of Dark River Hollyleaf decides to let go of her friendship with Willowpaw because she concludes from watching Lionblaze that cross clan friendships cause trouble and she should rely more on the code. Its the wrong conclusion to make, but remember that Hollyleaf's story in this series is a tragedy. With each book she only got more extreme. In Eclipse she concludes that the reason the clans are attacking Thunderclan is because Thunderclan broke the code. And then in Long Shadows she wouldn't have taken cat mint from windclan to save her clanmates to serve the greater good. Jayfeather even comments on how her devotion to the code was starting to scare him. I would argue that the circumstances of Hollyleaf's birth would have hurt her less as an apprentice than it would have as an adult. As an apprentice she wasn't nearly as devout, and that is the tragedy of her story.

I'm so happy you brought up how her existence contradicts the one thing she wanted to uphold most. It's always the one thing I see people overlook that aspect of her, which is sad because it's one of the biggest things that shows how tragic of a character she is. It's not an experience that's easy to handle and it always feels like a lot of people don't think about how that would affect someone

I'm working on a "Hollyleaf power AU" of sorts where some incident gives her a power, but by that point Dovewing and Firestar are the 3rd and 4th cat and no one's gonna believe her suddenly having a power too. The plan so far is that her new power is the opposite of having visions of the future: instead, Hollyleaf can jump into the past and see something exactly how it happened without having to have actually been there. Not sure about the incident yet, but it might have something to do with contact with Fallen Leaves considering he's a cat from a long time ago. So Hollyleaf starts going out at night and listening to gossip and such, then going back to the tunnels and jumping into the past as mentioned to see if they're true or not. This includes solving murders as well, leaving hints to medicine cats and leaders of other Clans in case it gets brought up at a Gathering. Think of it like being a private investigator. (Honestly this was just me dumping all the stuff I had of this AU in the comments section because A. Hollyleaf video, and B. It's a Hollyleaf fan making said video. It's more so other people can enjoy what I have down so far, even take it as inspiration for anything.)

Weirdly enough Hollyleaf’s arc reminded me of Rena Ryuugu’s Arc in Rena’s chapter of Higurashi. The meaning in that arc is that murder is never the answer, no matter how despairing you are, because it shatters lives. It’s like a bomb in the heart of a busy city - you can’t predict who is affected and how it will hurt people. Holly leaf wasn’t wrong to want to kill Ashfur I don’t think, I would think something similar if someone almost murdered my two brothers. BUT going through with it hurts everyone including herself. It sort of destroys her. Even though he deserved it imo! I love that abt that arc, but that meaning wasn’t really highlighted.

Hello SunnyFall! It is perfectly fine that you went over dued to celebrate TEN THOUSAND subscribers! You deserve all of it and everything! I found your channel not long ago but I am glad I did! Happy holidays to all who are reading this and celebrating and a happy new year! Holly leaf honestly is in my top five list coming at four! She is like you said already given a strong personality full of ambitions, and always sticks to the rules ( better known as the warrior code ). Holly leaf wants to have a special place in the clan and feels like she needs to help as much as she can and ( I guess “ contribute “?) no matter what her role is. I believe Holly leaf does believe and live for the warrior code but I also believe she wants to be able to make friendship, make things easier, and break it if needed to so she can help the cats surrounding her. Like you said, she wants to help but succeed and fight and win the glory and get to the point where she can become a magnificent warrior, a good mentor, a deputy, and an amazing leader! I sorta disagree with the “ accusing Lion paw of disloyalty despite her having friendship from another clan as well “ though. You see, in this situation, Lion paw is meeting with Heather paw and maybe, just MAYBE more than friends while Holly leaf is meeting Willow paw as a very close friend ( Also what I am gonna say is wrong then you are of course free to correct me ). The two spent little time together when Holly paw was still a young apprentice training to be a medicine cat since they could meet at the moon pool. Also, it actually makes a bit of sense considering that Leaf pool and Moth wing are there mentors and they got along pretty well. Just my opinions! Yes! I believe this is the core of everything! Being loved and well, “ adored? “ by her clan. Like you said, Fire star, Bramble claw, and Squirrel flight show her that heroism and respect is how you achieve your goals and is driven to be this way due to her family line that includes leaders, kitty pets, and well respected warriors. She really has taught myself to look in your heart and learn to accept and love the uniqueness of what makes you special and important. Also, perhaps just wanting to be heroic and recognized isn’t all she had planned. She wants to feel grounded and wants support from the cats around her. Holly leaf’s “ connection “ with Sol is very interesting! Sol is one of my favorite villains ( coming in hot at second place! ) He uses manipulation through words, not claws, which is so cool and even extraordinary! They both seek glory. ( I will totally go and watch the Sol video! ) Perhaps Holly leaf when it came to the “ her murdering Ash fur so he won’t tell the truth “ thing was because it was enough for her having to accept hearing it once, and maybe it feels different when you are the one spilling the tea. Ash fur would have probably made it sound like they were gonna be like Tiger star 2.0 and Holly leaf didn’t want that so the best solution in her case was murder! But you do make a good point to! All he knew was that there parents were not Squirrel flight and Bramble claw so unless they got a detective in the case, the truth would be spilled out and just be.. well… spilled out. They can’t do anything about this. But what if Holly leaf revealed the truth that Leaf pool and Crow feather where she and the other two’s parents because, think about something like this. Ash fur isn’t killed and spills the beans. Squirrel flight and Bramble claw are still gonna get made because no matter what time line or world we will be in they will argue. The clans get uneasy about this and the three. Four. Possibly, what if by there coat they began to search for the three’s real parents just to see if they have clan blood? ( Because in my imagine what some cats think is that they have to have clan blood to be “ loyal “ ) Just a thought I can just imagine the humiliation Holly leaf would feel and so she put and end to that by killing Ash fur. Also another thought I had was that the fact that Holly leaf wasn’t apart of the prophecy might be another reason that drive her crazy and bitter. Her whole life she has had ambitions to have her place in the clan but now, being a half clan cat, being lied too her whole life, and not being apart of a prophecy where you literally have the stars in your paws, it might just seem pointless in wanting something never to come true. Also, I will definitely read Paws of Stars! I really do not ship Holly leaf and Fallen leaves but I really like there friendship and especially in your tale! They are alone, and lost. ( Fun fact: I got Holly leaf’s story for Christmas and you talking about it I can’t wait to read it!!!!!! ) Also, though I haven’t read the book, seeing Holly leaf sad about losing her friendship with the fox cub is actually exciting, interesting, cool and yes sad but mixing together it shows her time in the caves and her growth. She has grown and learned a bit during a whole year! In one of warrior cat worlds, Holly leaf does survive everything and when Cinder heart and Lion blaze have kits, being there aunt, is in there lives a lot. She cherishes them and brings gifts to them and I imagine her telling about the code and even giving them easy tiny lessons for apprenticeship. If I am gonna be honest, we need more cats to be like Holly leaf. She is a amazing character and I love her but that is not all. She is in my words the first cat form the clans to survive the tunnels during a slide and come back. Holly leaf is a heroic figure and I was FuRIOuS when she died in the “ Last hope: Omen of the stars “! Couldn’t she have lived just a bit longer! 😔 Also I agree with Bramble claw lieng about Ash fur’s death. It is so not like Holly leaf to let this pass. I actually think it is a better idea to let her start at the beginning again and get a fresh start. Building stronger relationships and forgiving cats and asking for it. Working her way to be a compassionate, caring, skilled and loyal warrior. And finding out where she belongs and her own uniqueness about her even though she isn’t apart of the prophecy. Wrapping all of this up, I agree with you! Holly leaf is amazing and you covered all of this so well! Thank you!

Congratulations on 100K subs you deserve it and I think that your input with the series is always amazing! As for Hollyleaf I wasn’t a fan of her in POT, however I do believe she is a great character and while I found her characterization to be somewhat inconsistent I think it was a very complex story that definitely had something special. And as for OOTS, for me personally I feel she skyrocketed for me as I don’t how but I got really invested and really enjoyed her again. I think probably her novella really redeemed her for me and I think that Hollyleaf’s Story is honestly one of my favorite books in the series as I felt that it felt genuine and utilized a lot of elements with Hollyleaf’s relations very well with Fallen Leaves, the fox cub, and the cats who she grew up with. So overall, I’d definitely say that Hollyleaf is not perfect but definitely a very interesting character that was worth reading about in the series. And I definitely love how much dedication you have towards this character and passionately you feel towards her is something I can truly respect. Ps: the fox cub in her novella was definitely my favorite part in the book.

I might be biased because I support capital punishment for murder, and I think attempted murder should be considered the same crime, so I think it’s good that Ashfur was killed, but the way and reason Hollyleaf did it wasn’t.

I personally found holly kit and holly paw a bit annoying. Not as “bad character annoying” more like, “if she was an actual person I wouldn’t like her”. Anyways for me she’s like maybe top 25 or something. She’s good but I love the dotc cast more (half of my top 20 list is only dotc cats, I love the characters from dotc)
