Thank you Hollyn for being real about how you’ve felt and your relationship with God. Many Christians are often afraid to show their struggles and express their pain, but God knows our hearts. We’re not fooling Him by only saying what we think He wants to hear. We’re fooling ourselves. God wants every piece of us, every tear, every scar. He wants us to take refuge in Him. Those people who are judging Hollyn so harshly for doing something that might interest a secular audience are not seeing how God can use her to reach people who traditional Christian artists haven’t been able to reach yet. God works in many ways. And He takes what the enemy meant for evil and turns it for His good. As a Christian who has felt lost and hopeless and desperate and frustrated, it’s inspiring to see how she still continues to pursue God and grow in her relationship with Him. God doesn’t stop loving us no matter how many times we feel broken down or distant. Hollyn has different songs for different seasons and moments. If you don’t like this song and can’t relate, then this message might not be for you at this time. I pray this song reaches those it was intended to reach and that their hearts will be open to God and to healing. 🙏❤️

Love your new stuff Hollyn. This one is really powerful and will impact others especially in the Christian realm who are struggling and can come to good songs like this to find refuge and hope, and know they aren't alone. And when your music is not specifically labelled as Christian, others will come and enjoy it and find good messages in them, which is amazing. (Hope you understand what I'm trying to say haha) I'm glad that you are making the art you want to make, it must feel so good :)

I think songs are multi-faceted. They can mean different things to different people at different moments in their life. So, I can only give you my view on it. Someone else might give you a different perspective and at the same time, it could mean something different to Hollyn. To me it’s that moment when there is a lot of pressure, expectations, and/or stress in your life and you don’t know what to do next. You’re stuck. The tension is getting to you. You’re praying and praying but still waiting for God to advise you…to guide you on what course to take; what to do next. 😊

When I heard the song, I thought the opposite, actually. I thought of it as "felling the tension in the room" and "you could cut it with a knife" and really coming through and taking control of your life. From the teasing she did before releasing this song, that's why I thought that, and it kinda makes sense
@christinakelly67943 жыл бұрын
I mean this in the kindness way possible. My sister who lost many people to that and who even considered it herself even went as far as going out of state to do it, found nothing wrong with the knife. Instead it meant a different to her than it did me and only meant to be her heart suffering from her mental health. I'm not saying that you're wrong and I'm right, I just wanted to put that out there. ❤️
@zoewillaschek4623 жыл бұрын
I think, the msg od the Story Is: God comitted your pain And tension fór some reason. This tension Is So great, that IT seems unbearable And impossible to Carry.....but this Is exactly the moment for the humans answer: "God, i can't solve it, Carry IT Alone, so...solve it instead of me!" God has Always a Proper (as a knife)solution (not ONLY some parts, but "a whole solution - a programme of personal rehabilitation by his merciful love"). You can watch the potentional killing knife absolutely peacefully again, because you Are hidden And healed in His arms And prepared to live fully again with healthy self aware
