I’m so happy that Hollyoaks are showing relapse. I think people forget that just because someone speaks out and gets help, it doesn’t mean they’ve completely recovered from the mental health problem. This show deserves so many awards for covering so many important issues! 💗

I'm glad that they've had Ste say that it's hardwired in his head. Emotional and physical abuse when you're a child lasts with you throughout adulthood, especially when it's done for a long time and it becomes a notion of expectations through certain looks or tone of voice. You're dragged right back to those moments you know the pain is coming, whether it may or may not happen and you're afraid. It's literally hardwired for you to respond in fear. Even though he abused Amy, you'll find that a lot of children who have been physically and/or emotionally abused will most likely do the same in adulthood unless helped when it happens right then and there. It's a hardwired response, unfortunately the brains way of coping with the abuse is to act out with abuse.

Had a thought after watching tonight's first look episode. Jonny's not his brother & considering how he helped Ste with Terry and he has recently been in prison. I'm thinking maybe he was in the same one as Brendan & they were friends. He came to the village because Brendan asked him to check on Ste and make sure he was having a good life. When Jonny discovered Ste life was kind of a mess he stuck around to help him, as he knows how important it is to Brendan that Ste has a good life. This is probably wishful thinking as I still believe Ste and Brendan belong together, but I like it.

But if he his son then he could be ste half brother as Pauline was his wife and he was ste stepfather and Johnny is younger ste said in one episode so maybe terry left and Pauline found out she was pregnant and left Johnny when he was born in hospital and went to foster homes till terry found him and looked after him and lied and said ste spilt him and his mom up and was horrible to him but Johnny now finding out that his dad was the abuses one and now getting him beaten up.
