@@hollyridgehomesteadThank you for your hard work doing an important job. I think the best way to explain the problem is to show people the before and after damage to the land especially the wetlands they destroy. First time viewer so idk how you normally give the meat away but you may consider posting it online in the morning after you spring the trap if you haven't already tried that. I'd like to see or hear the weight (or estimate) of some of the 🐗 and if you do any cooking that's always cool in my book too.

Now this is the proper way to do a video about eliminating the hogs. Not too much talking about nothing and allowing the entire process to be videoed. What we want to see mostly is the moment when the gate closes trapping the hogs and when you send them to the promised land without cutting too much out. Thanks.

Im surprised these traps are not designed with an overhang type of barrier at the top. You can see the hog jumping at 7:08. He nearly made it. If the traps had a slanted panel at the top it would make it much harder for the hogs to escape, so not sure why they didnt design that in?

So the last catch, it was over 100 degrees that day. We were there early in the morning. When it came time to handle them, they had a very unusual smell to them. I have messed with hogs this time of year a lot. This is one group that no body wanted to attempt to process. The landowner decided to bury them so no wild life would get sick or spread any diseases. Wild pigs carry some many diseases you really have to be careful. Thanks for watching

My guess is that with all that open space and all that available food stuffs plus the ability of a sow to have 2 liters of a dozen piglets per year and you get a hot mess that cannot be solved. These feral hogs, are an invasive species in the United States and they cost farmers and ranchers millions of dollars in lost revenue. It’s a serious problem in the United States. A female hog can reproduce at the age of six months. Educate yourself, before telling somebody not to kill them.

Just found your video, looks like you do a worth while job clearing pigs from the farmers property. You do need a bigger gun maybe .38 spl underlever. Anyway keep up the good work would love to have a go. But I'm in the UK...

Thanks you for watching. We do what we can for others when it comes to feral pigs. Usually I have a larger caliber rifle in the truck just encase, but we had made a trip out of town.

How come they don't round them up and process to sell? Is it illegal?
@hollyridgehomestead

There are no buying stations here or near us. Then you have to have permits to transport and a separate permit to hold them.

Thank goodness you didnt load them up.... ( alive ) !!! Its about getting rid of the hogs....not making money from them ! Give them away as your doing..after they are dead ! Need to work with that rifle......put a scope on it. Should be able to hit a quarter sized target at 100 yards ( that is with about a 6 inch drop....zeroed at 50 yards ) Sub-sonics most times are much more accurate ! I guess thiat is a lever action rifle......most of them are not that accurate though.

Need to just start carrying a bigger gun for ones like that. That has only happened a few times. Sometimes I will go out with my thermal and take care of the ones that show up. I’m all about getting rid of them. They don’t leave my trap alive. Done that one time before and learned my lesson.

@@hollyridgehomestead Exactly... Relating to a bigger gun.... well.... accuracy is far more important. Can take down a deer dead on the spot with a 22 lr using sub-sonics. But true... cant hurt to use a larger rifle. Could have taken that hog out at 400 yards....dead !
@hollyridgehomestead

@@jerrylansbury9558 very true. I did nail him in the head but the angle of him looking at me the.22 lr bounced off. I’m just glad he decided that revenge wasn’t worth it and headed off.

Is there a reason why you don't use a more powerful rifle for finishing them in the trap?

They’re horrible animals. I’d be more afraid encountering a wild hog than a black bear. Black bears avoid ppl, hogs are aggressive and attack in packs
