For those of you just joining us, welcome! We're Vic and Jo and we've been narrowboating around the UK for the last few years on our 54ft narrowboat Zero. Two years ago we decided to give up our jobs in the city and add another boat to our fleet in hope of turning it into a travelling cafe and becoming full time boating baristas.

Don’t be sad, you have had a wonderful 10 years on your boat and this is now the next chapter. Who knows, one day you may return to the water but in the meantime enjoy your time in the house. William will have lots of space to run around, you’ve got a washing machine on hand, no more running out of water, your bins will be collected from outside your door….so many new things to be grateful for! I've followed you for ages and, since William's birth, have dreaded this day. Watching this video, I've felt quite sad but, realising this is a ''next step'' in your family life, I've brightened up especially as you finished your video with a ''See you next week'' message! William has pre-school to look forward to and he'll love to be able to 'share' with other tots his age. I am overjoyed that you're keeping Holly as this means we have future videos to look forward to! (I'm selfish!) Even if, eventually, you sell Holly on, please do continue making videos about your lives because I'm now hooked on you as a family -- and I'm nosey in that I want to know how you're all getting on. I think you’ve made the right decision for your life. In truth, I don’t follow your channel so much because you live on a boat. I just like you guys, your optimistic personalities, the way you take on each struggle with smiling faces, your little family. My boyfriend and I recently moved in to a flat after living full time in our van for the past 2 years. Alternative living is great in many ways but, also very hard. It's a lovely sense of perspective when you feel so lucky for things other people take for granted, like having a shower when you want or putting a wash on so enjoy the little luxuries! We did similar to you, lived abroad over 10 years then decided it was time for land life again. We still spent time on narrowboats, hiring and volunteering. I think the time is right to make the move as hard as it feels right now it will be for the best in the long run. I always had a hankering to live on a canal boat and enjoy the idyllic lifestyle. But then I fell in love with your channel and quickly realized that the idyllic moments can be overwhelmed by the realities of trying to keep up with basic tasks such as laundry, keeping the water tanks filled, the dreaded run to clean out the toilet. All time consuming chores that wait for noone and need to be done no matter the weather. I lived your life vicariously as I watched you from the comfort of my study with a glass of wine in my hand. And you did this week in, week out with good humor, great insights and candor that made it an addictive joy to watch. Then along comes young William to melt all of our hearts. I am actually relieved with your decision because as he enters the terrible two's and becomes an energizer bunny, suddenly living on a canal boat doesn't seem such a good idea. Your heads would have to be on a swizel and constantly on the alert. I somehow doubt that you will rejoin the rat race - you are both very talented and fully capable of carving your own niche in life; and I am looking forward to learning of your future adventures. Like most others have mentioned...the path you are on is, without a doubt, the right one. Being a parent creates many necessary changes. As the Native American saying goes, We do not inherit the land from our Fathers, but borrow it from our Children. I am very thankful that you are keeping Holly. Much as a book has many chapters, so does life. My wife and I first discovered life on the English Canals by way of Kevin Gentry...Country House Gent. Then we discovered you....Holly the Cafe Boat. Being 72 years old, certainly I have regrets for the things I never attempted. Live your lives with as few regrets as possible. You’re making the best decision for your family. Life changes. Was wondering what will happen when William is ready for preschool. Hope that you save your video diaries to share with him when he gets older. Telling his friends about it and their replies would be that’s so cool.
