Silence happens on a smaller more common scale as well. My uncle’s neighbor molested his children and my aunt would tell the other mothers when the neighbor was around to watch their children. But no one called the authorities. The wife of the neighbor should have spoken out too but she didn’t either willful ignorance or plain ignorance. I pray it ends at all scales, 100s or just one.

It is time to hold the entertainment industry as a whole, which means not limited to movies/tv but also music etc, to the same criminal and civil prosecution the Catholic Church has faced. There is literally no difference. This has been going on since the industry began and is going on even right now. Individuals and corporations together are responsible including law firms that aided and abetted these crimes.
@ARTPAINTING101
@ARTPAINTING101 2 жыл бұрын
I am sorry but I think the catholic Church has barely been held accountable for the years of sexual abuse they covered up, and thereby tolerated by moving pedophiles from parish to parish. I think all groups and persons need to be prosecuted at a high level until it becomes clear that sexual advances made from a unequal power structure are morally reprehensible. There is no excuse for rape or pedophilia
@andrewhosfeld
@andrewhosfeld 2 жыл бұрын
@@ARTPAINTING101 The entertainment industry gave the best picture award to the movie ‘Spotlight’ and in the acceptance speech for receiving the award talked about needing to bring justice to sex abuse of minors by the Catholic Church. This industry can literally state the rightful importance of prosecuting these egregious crimes while at the same time they are actively engaging in the same crimes. The abuses, exploitation and crimes committed by Bryan Singer and his ilk is in no way less worse than Weinstein nor the Catholic Church. Considering it was minors some would argue it is worse. It’s time the entertainment industry face at minimum the same criminal and civil prosecution. Politicians should also face the same justice considering Jeffrey Epstein. If government prosecutors prosecuted defrocked priests and clergy faced civil lawsuits, then so can actors, politicians etc. But considering not one abuser in the Maxwell case has actually been named, it’s extremely doubtful. The original argument wasn’t arguing that the Catholic Church was appropriately ‘held accountable’.

Cannot agree more with you. Hollywood is a hypocrite industry wherein self-interests, capitalism, among other issues are de rigoeur. Despite the proliferation of #MeToo movement and other trendy value-laden (eventually self-serving) advocacy (BLM, ALM, etc.), in the end money comes first, and values (if ever the business moguls think about it when thinking about the next project or "cultural product") are relegated to the minimum. Interestingly, "cancel culture" is a trend that is amplified by hypocrites.

I don't know how other people think but I think it's a red flag waving in your face to run and not look back if people warn you not to sit on a couch or be in the same room as the guy or wear extra clothes? Come on people why would anyone work with him? I wish someone would have waved a red flag in my face, it would have saved me a lot of pain and mental anguish. I've had lots of money and I've had no money and I would take the no money and have peace of mind rather than have money with all the crap that goes a long with working with or near that guy. It makes me wonder what goes through a person's or a company's mind when they see his behavior and choose to work with him anyway?
@gardensofthegods

Probably because of the fact that some of these people knew that putting up with it was still worth the money they were making or would be making simply because they had worked for him or with him ...as compared to going through the same sexual harassment working at a place where they made almost no money ... ... sounds crazy but I could see some rationalizing it ... yes it's great if a person could work at a place where they don't have to deal with sexual harassment and if they especially can make a decent income .

She refused to be silent about abuse with her students. She spoke up and I am glad about her having done so, as well. It probably saved me from abuse, as a child there. She also said, "Will Rogers never met Hitler either." She was his age. She knew their tricks. She'd teach them to you if you listened when she spoke. These women spoke. Earth learned.

I worked in the biggest Law Firm in Hollywood for over 2 years in the middle of this hole scene. When I had an attorney who was on the entertainment floors in a big entertainment attorney works for the biggest record companies I mean they had the biggest people from Mick Jagger you name it even Ted Kennedy was one of their clients every actor you name Warren Beatty Jack Nicholson it was I won't name them but they were the one of the two largest in Hollywood. I had to sit on I was a floater I was a paralegal in a floater and I worked everywhere in that firm. I picked up the phone and I was covering 9th floor reception so the woman who was the receptionist there could go to lunch I pick up the phone and I hear a familiar voice which is one of the attorneys I knew in entertainment and he liked me and I and he said where the f*** is Friedman and I said this is I knew who it was and I said milk this is freaking and we're on the 9th floor and we don't swear on the 9th floor and I hung up on them nice what was corporate and they didn't swear. A few minutes later the elevator door opens up and it's melt and he's laughing he thought that was the funniest thing you'd ever heard and he just came up and went into the office of the other attorney didn't call back you just came up they were all swearing where the f*** is my secretary I mean I don't even want to repeat what they would say but they were all swearing they were all abusing it was the culture and it's years and years later and they decided to cut the head off of the snake the one thing about Harvey is that I would have been intimidated if I were an actress that I would never work again that he would mess with me if I didn't go along there are many men who weren't as powerful and they just did it too it was insane

Over 250 men were publicly accused of misconduct. Only one is in jail. This is not justice it’s about brainwashing. Taking one man’s rights away as a human. Getting everyone to accept it by making him look like he deserves it. Once we all agree the amendments can be changed according to who you are, which just happened, is the beginning of the end of freedom in America. Shortly after, abortion rights are overruled. Harvey was just a test for the government to see if they can control you. And yes they won. So far.

I really have no empathy for Weinstein’s assistant. She could have reported Weinstein’s behavior to the police, she could have resigned her position at Miramax. She could have immediately retained an excellent lawyer (female or male) for workplace sexual harassment. I don’t believe she did any of that. Perhaps it was the money that kept her there? Whatever it was, she is certainly no victim and, in fact, her inaction enabled Weinstein to continue his vile behavior towards others in the workplace. She needs to look at her part in that equation. A betrayer of women and particularly those she could have supported in the office by reporting him.

No, she didn't go to the police, but she and her colleague found a lawyer - I read that she was a part-time law student at the time, so she knew what she was doing.... OF COURSE, the lawyer advised to ask for ''compensation'''... Harvey was married so he had no choice, even if relationship was consensual, he had to settle.... After 2017, when accusers were trying to negotiate the 'class action' settlement, the lawyer for her and her colleague wrote something suggesting that both of them were not sufficiently compensated back in the 90s... she and her colleague each got 125,000 GBP back in the 90s ... so looks like she wanted more money

Don't know if it's true, but someone who works in "the industry" told that the big shots in the entertainment industry are on the alert to keep even a whisper of a scandal going public. They take measures, to keep even the tiniest bit, of so much as a thought of there being any kind of impropriety. He told for one thing, they have a straight male for a secretary instead of a female. They let it be known that they are not to be left alone with an actress or a female worker of any kind and put the word out to their subordinates that it's a "hands off" policy or else.

He was at the pinnacle of showbiznezz. On top of the world. In his mind he could create and have anything he wanted. He was on a major power trip. Being large and in charge, literally. And that bled into all areas of his life. Talk about a false sense of entitlement, to feel that you can just take what you want, and that people won't stop you because you have the power. Well, look at him now, all frail and beaten down. My how the mighty have fallen. If only that would happen with the past president. They have similar personality traits. Jail the criminals.
