If they're so tired of us "toxic fans" then maybe Hollywood should do the whole world a favor close up shop and quit for good! I don't think they get how badly they messed up. Most of the IPs that have been vandalized, a lot of us will never follow again.
@Nevyn515Ай бұрын
Just remember that “toxic” is code for “didn’t like the movie” and “fans” is code for people whose money they want in exchange for the product they produce. So “toxic fans” translates to “People whose money we want in exchange for our product but who don’t want to pay money for our garbage product they don’t want”. If people don’t shop at your store where everything is smeared in sewage and is half broken and only sells products nobody wants, when people shop next door they aren’t being toxic fans of your store.

My grandfather was the famous actor James Arness and his brother was Peter Graves. Even back in those days, people were able to tell what celebrities were genuinely good people and those who would be what we'd call Karens today. We didn't need social media or the internet to find these things out. Before these things were around, people discovered these things from word of mouth, especially when these toxic celebrities didn't change their behavior in public but would be seen by a number of people doing the behavior in a public space. Not all celebrities were toxic either, unfortunately those who are still alive have been chased out of the industry by the woke. What's key to point out is that woke activists took over journalism and have been using it to be an abusive form of both power and control. This has been noticed with film critics and games journalism. When you're pushing out products that people don't want, you leave a void of what the product used to be. KZbinrs have been filling the void that film critics and games journalism has abandoned, genuine and honest criticism and not pandering to push any ideology.

@@ChaptermasterPedroKantor-kv5yw it wouldn't do any good, honestly the celebrities who have been toxic have been publicly known decades before social media and the internet. They don't just stop being toxic when in public spaces but instead have been seen doing the behavior by many of people and word spreads. This was true when I was a kid in the 80s and also true going back to the 50s. When this is witnessed, word of it spreads like wildfire with people talking about it. It's only in the 90s that media started seeing the gold mine of reporting on such behavior. It's only semi recently that celebrities who are toxic will now boast their behavior since it's become a norm.

I want to reference something from “Critical Drinker After Hours” (10/5/2024). To summarize, back in the pre-internet days, there were critics, but relatively few really credible ones. Siskel & Ebert (for example) had to work actual jobs, please their bosses and pay their dues. There was a gate, of sorts, and it was kept. Nowadays, KZbin has destroyed that model. Anyone can start a KZbin channel and say whatever they like. No more dues-paying or gatekeeping…and Hollywood can't stand it. 😵💫
@schwaaardАй бұрын
Critical Drinker is great! The interesting thing is that being a critic should be either self-sustaining or self-destructive. If I watch 10 films based on a positive critical review, and I come away agreeing with the majority of what that critic wrote or said, I'll continue to defer to him or her. If I disagree with all or most of the critiques, I'll abandon said critic. Critics aren't supposed to tell us what to think, but rather to use whatever skills, experience, and education they can to provide objective and insightful encapsulations and evaluations of media. A critic who is ignored by most of the populace probably should pursue another line of work. Conversely, someone who is able to provide valuable reviews (ones that are proven to be apt warnings or accurate endorsements) will naturally garner an audience and can hopefully find a way to pursue it as a career.

You know, the reason for fantasy live action movies not really being much of a thing seemed to be how costly they would be to make. And like while Harry Potter was faithful to the books, Eragon kinda skewered it. But if studios are going to spend so much money on these things, why not do fantasy? It would make so much more sense, than Borderlands, Megaopolis, Joker Folie A Deux, live action Little Mermaid (which IS fantasy sure, but like...a better version of that movie already exists).

Hollywood “stars” still think the business and the landscape has remained unchanged since the 80’s, as they think we care who’s in a movie. If a movie we want to watch that looks pretty good we’ll watch it. If it stars Johnny Depp or Margot Robbie or Zendaya we’ll watch it, and if it stars Johnny Nobody we’ll still watch it. If it looks crap we won’t watch it, and it doesn’t matter if people who were “stars” 40 years ago like Tom Hanks or Julia Roberts is in it. But these people still think that actors are somehow important for some reason, the up-and-comers still pretend they are as important as those from 40 years ago thought and think they were and are. Hollywood is still labouring under the delusion that there is still such a thing as a ‘bankable’ actor or a box office draw. If that was true Dr Dolittle and Cats and Replicants would not have been failures nobody was interested in watching.

You know what this reminds me of? The Middle Ages was destroyed by the 1347-1348 black plague, cooling of the climate starting in 1300, and all the after effects of those events (including pandemics, famines, the rediscovery of the classical era's media, the exploration by Europeans of the world, the Printing press invented around 1450) . It broke the medieval civilization apart. The Church lost a lot of its power, the Aristocracy of Europe was ravaged by the plague and pandemics. The Renaissance was born circa 1500. People started questioning the Medieval powers... oh, the Church had it's counter-reformation and witch hunts, the Aristocracy fought off the intellectual breakthroughs of the Renaissance, but in the end, the next age - starting circa 1700, was going to be very, very different. New Voices, new ideas, A re-awaking of humanity intellectually, including, the Nascent sciences. Now, in our age, Computers - home computers in all their forms, including cell phones, laptops, tablets, table tops are changing the power equation of Human civilization. Of course, the old powers don't like what is happening. Of course, they hate the masses of people (who they smugly consider beneath them!) "Toxic" when they are finally having their say in all fields, including entertainment! Studios controlling celebrities social media isn't exactly new and this year, this isn't the first time I heard of this. I'm also a fan of the virtual streamers such as Kirsche and early this year it was assumed that a virtual talent had their social media controlled by her corporation at the time. The only difference between this situation and Ziegler is that the talent's social media was under the business email given to her whereas Ziegler uses her own. So for people to say Zeigler's socials are controlled by production is a bit far fetched to me. Disney did not give Rachel Ziegler a business email or X account. Note to the entertainment industry, there would not be “toxic fandom” without boring, crappy, predictable, leftist agenda driven entertainment.

As a famous well-known president uttered this famous quote: "Everything woke turns to 💩". 😃👍

Hollywood movies used to be entertaining and a couple hours of escaping reality and all the junk that comes with it. But now Hollywood movies are so bad that I would rather have reality and just deal with that!

1 more thing... Wouldn't it be nice to find someplace big enough for all the normal people, someplace like Texas maybe ...?!

Nooo no more people here please! At least maybe move to the west side of the state.

It could’ve worked as a musical bc the if the characters are in Arkom asylum. Could’ve made it from one character’s prospective as they slip into madness. Another major missed opportunity. 😢

Some of these solo short videos people are making are awesome. And they will only get better as AI advanced and those creators gain experience and monetary support.

Lady Gaga is quite talented & enjoyed her concert years ago as well as A Star is Born; her politics are irrelevant to me. However neither I nor my wife had any interest in a Joker musical & have no idea how studio execs ever thought this was a good idea.

We hate Hollywood

Review boom? Sounds like a confession by projection. Clearly, the studios employ people to give specific reviews, or else they never accuse john q public of doing that.

I wonder how much this cuts into their theme park budget. Get wrecked WB! 😂😂😂😂😂
@poisonedyoyoАй бұрын
I still say Paramount needs to make a theme park, and they can shut out all other IPs besides Sppongebob and Avatar the Last Airbender and it would still do super well.

Of course they hate KZbin. the 'stars' have very little influence over youtube-lurker's minds.

YT is woke, too. So many of my comments get blocked without any notification or explanation.

I can think of dozens of KZbinrs I'd be more excited to meet in person than I would any single celebrity. That's not to say that the "Don't meet your heroes" rule doesn't apply to many KZbinrs out there, but it just goes to show how far my opinion of Hollywood fame has gone down. At this point, I'd pay money to AVOID meeting someone like Mark Hamil

There needs to be a moratorium put on usage of the Joker and Harley Quinn in media for a long, long time. Both are overdone and have been tainted by certain actors’ portrayals of them. Every Joker since The Dark Knight has been a Heath Ledger wannabe (he did well, yes, but he suffers from Christopher Nolan’s crippling need to make Batman so realistic it stops feeling like Batman); Margot Robbie continued the character assassination started by the New 52 and has unfortunately become “the” Harley in the public eye instead of a more BTAS-accurate version. Give both a rest until they can both be written faithfully to who they’re meant to be. Remember the Joker’s a sadistic showman and abusive freak and that Harley is his co-dependent, clingy moll. Until they remember that, they need to take a break from those two and center films on Batman villains who haven’t been touched on yet or done accurately. Scarecrow, Killer Croc, Hush, Man-Bat, Killer Moth, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, Hugo Strange… the list goes on and on.
