There are a lot of things I don't like about my home state but all those taxes I pay yield dividends when it came to covid and having a social safety net, or having regulations when it comes to things like energy, unlike states like Texas who lets their power companies gouge their customers and die in sudden cold snaps. the worst you hear about in California are brown outs in certain areas (most times lower income ) in California. So, do I like the amount of money in taxes I pay? or the proliferation of Toll roads initiated under Governor Arnie, our last republican governor by the way, no. I don't. I don't even like the rampant infestation of corporate dems in our state over working class populace ones BUT I'll take California over many states any day! When the Trump storm hits, which I'm sure many in the comment section voted for, MY state will be insulated, from the worst of that mans policies because in addition to entertainment (Hollywood hasn't shot films in my state since the late 80's) we have multiple revenues from our farming (a lot of the produce you might eat like say almonds come from my state) to import and export since the majority of that stuff goes through my state first. There is a reason why California Gravitates between the 4th and 8th largest economy in the world. 25% of the nations wealth comes from my home state.

Sweetie if my home state were a 'trillion dollars in debt" a national emergency would be declared. A simple google search would show you that its roughly 28 billion. This is in part due to the multiple projects going on in my state such as HIGH SPEED RAIL which the majority of first world nations have and enjoy. You see, my state is actually PRODUCTIVE and not on the federal govt dole like most red states who constantly threaten to leave the union but would die on the vine instantly without those government hands outs States like mine provide through the taxes we pay...
