If you ever need help knowing who they are and who wears what. This is it. J-dog = doller sign on his mask Charlie = bandana, hat and glasses Da kurlzz = Two faces. Johnny = Number 3 on his mask. Danny = Golden mask. Funny man = Black mask. They don't wear their masks now, they said they will be soon though. Also the reason j-dog doesn't sing much is because he helps witj all the producing of the songs, he has his own business and he mainly kust plays the guitar but he is still a legend. Also in 2008 there was 7 members. They were, J-dog, Duece, Charlie, Funnyman, Da kurlzz, johnny and Shady Jeff. Shady Jeff was kicked out because of his realtions with Duece ( they didn't get along ) and he was 2x there age.

Another amazing video! To answer your question, yes, at the beginning of their career, they only wore masks. Even in early interviews where they didn't have masks on, they would have their editor putting a small "digital mask" over their faces so that no one could see. I think it was around American Tragedy (their second full length album) that they finally started showing their faces.

My favorite J-Dog mask. I love it. Gas mask that lightd up, red eyes light up, $ money mouth. I love it! I was always drawn to his masks..even the first bloody eye, dollar mouth. Even the burnt bloddy eyes.. Idk why. Just my thing i guess. Like a weirdo lol

So here's the jist of the masks. A bit lengthy. When they first came out they always wore them and nobody seen their faces, as they said they wanted people to only focus on the music and not the people. The masks were also really crude and shitty. Just stuff they had lying around slapped together. Like Charlie wore a Del Taco bag before his Bandana/Sunglasses combo for example. They even wore them in interviews and in early music videos and backstage stuff anytime their face was shown there'd be a little icon of their mask censoring them. Around when Swan Songs was coming out they were able to afford better ones and that's when all their personal touches came in. Johnny's always has butterflies and the number 3. Funnyman always has 3 dots. Da Kurlzz was always half and half. Charlie got his Bandana and shades. And J-Dog actually improved on the cruder version of the mask he did have before, blood from the eyes and money represented on the mouth. Deuce was pretty much just an upgrade of his pre-existing one too. And in the future Danny's would always have a cross on it near the eye. Around American Tragedy, their second album and first with Danny is when they started showing their faces more often but still kept the masks for live shows, photo shoots and whatnot. They'd also upgrade them with every album, adding lights, making the shapes different (i.e J-Dog making his a gas mask) adding textures and colours, but keeping the signature styles I mentioned earlier. As time went on they wore them less and less to the point when the album V came out they only wore them for like 3 songs and then took them off at live shows. But still kept them for photo shoots. For V they even had 3 different masks each so they could have a different one each show. I think they just started to get bored. When New Empire Vol. 1 came out they kind of ditched them entirely. I remember listening to an interview with Johnny (I think it was on Lead Singer Syndrome) where he basically said they're not gone for good, but they also don't want to force it just for the sake of having them. If nothing's coming to them on how they should look they just won't do them. And they didn't. All performances and music videos for Vol. 1 were entirely maskless. Then the music video for Idol came out which is going to be on New Empire Vol. 2 and at the end there's a quick shot of someone wearing a mask that's like sewn together pieces of a mask from each member of the band. And that's where it's at for now. They may wear them again, they may not. Only they know.

So with the masks they used to do new masks every album up until 5 then after that they ditched the masks and showed there faces in videos, there masks were always similar to there previous mask but a new spin on it Ps. So, some background to this video: They have a friend in the porn business (who directed this video). They were all chatting one day about him maybe directing a video for the. He suggested bringing some porn actresses that he knows to act alongside in the video and HU agreed. They decided that Dead Bite would be the song for him to direct. As they were figuring out what the theme for the video would be they had the idea that it should be creepy and dark like a twisted Halloween party because the lyrics and the music already lent itself to something like that. The kid in the beginning would enter this 'party' and all he's seeing is the hellish side of everything, just like what the man (who is the Devil or a demon) said to him -- "...You ask for Heaven, we give you Hell." Maybe because he wishes he was living a better life somewhere else but that damn Devil will always play tricks with you, show you the bad stuff instead of the good stuff that you want. In the end, he's just glad he's out of there and back to reality.

The song references the shining at least 2x that I caught, the blatant reference and then the line about red red rum when you look in to these eyes. The weird screeching sound effect in the beginning is like the sound from the shining whenever someone's shining. The masks and the random hedonistic sex scenes remind me of the movie, eyes wide shut, especially because of the masks and the way its filmed. Both of those are directed by stanley Kubrick. I may be reading wayyyyyyy too much into it 😂
