You guys are right. It is a metaphor for life. The fountain is whatever goal or dream you have about what life should be. We are always trying to obtain that goal, for most, it's wealth or standing, but in the end we realize the real fountain is the journey of life itself. Hardships. Love. Loss. Experience. Even Glory.

Part IV. Bacchus Plateau, gets me every time when Alex' guitar solo comes in at the end. My ears swear they are hearing a flute that turns into a guitar! Alex's magical fingers put their spell on me again!

Some people think this is from Rushs worst album but for me there is a certain rawness, passion and innocence to the music that makes it one of my favorites. I like it more than fly by night which came out just before it. It’s just more experimental.

The Fountain Of Lamneth originally appeared on side 2 of the third album, Caress Of Steel. It was their first side long epic and the band have said that this was a test run of what they would do for 2112 a year later. Alex is on record as saying that 'without Fountain Of Lamneth, we would never have tried to make 2112'. The album didn't do well, saleswise and there was a chance that if the follow up wasn't successful, their record company was going to drop them. The band entered the studio with the attitude of "if we're going down in flames, at least let them be our flames". They recorded 2112 and the rest is history.

Can you imagine playing this for Paul Stanley in 1975, when KISS was about to become the biggest band in the world, and him NOT GETTING it, yet realizing years later, the opening band you’ve picked for thrashing out ‘Working Man’ and ‘Anthem’ has grown(progressed)more in one year and two albums then you will ever in 50 years or 50 albums🤯😎🖖🤘✌️🥁🎸🎹🎤

It was Neil taking a headlong dive in to "conceptual art" music, and is most likely inspired by a book by Ayn Rand called The Fountainhead. It's simply a journey of life. As always, RIP to "The Professor".

The older you get, the more you appreciate The fountain Of Lamneth". The amazing thing for me is that they had the awareness to write it at such a young age. To me TFOL up there with Natural Science, Freewill and The Garden.

This is Far and Away Russia's most Black Sheep record.... it flopped at the time, and was part of the leverage the record company was using against the band to try and make them transition into being a much more mainstream Act. I absolutely love the album that this is from which is caress of steel, it is one of those brilliant moments in time where an artist wasn't quite fully developed into who they were destined to be..... that would come one album later with the Masterpiece that is 2112.... but this was the learning curve that got them there. The album is so thick with hash oil Vibes and Lord of the Rings mythology that it has been a perennial favorite for background music in a thousand Dungeons & Dragons games since the 1970s when it was released.

Hey Guys I'm new and love your reactions. The triviaquestions are awesome. And if you like some good progressive storytelling then yu have to listen to Ayreon's song The Day that the World breaks down. Its 12 Minutes long but easy to listen with al lot of amazing singers like Floor Jansen, Simone Simmons, Hansi Kürsch and so on. I think you will love that song. Cheers from Switzerland

I know of no incarnation of Rush that I DON'T like...But, for me (of course, I'm a bit biased), this is their best era. I've got over 200 live shows under my belt starting in '77 when I was twelve. Rush is the band I've seen the most. From the "A Farwell to Kings" tour (tickets were $6 lol) to "Snakes and Arrows," they've NEVER disappointed...EVER. RIP my brother Neil. Save me a seat in the smoking section for when it's my turn to be called home.

The original release actually separated the parts of this, Where "Diadects and Narpets" was we had "I think I'm Going Bald"... when It was re-released in the '90's the tracks were put back into order. RUSH liked playing games like that, they released a song called "Fear" in the '80's, the problems was all three parts were on different albums, with part 3 being released first... Thus "I: The enemy Within" (1984), "II: The Weapon" (1982), and "III: Witch hunt (1981) and some claim that "Freeze" from 2002 is supposed to be a part 4 to it...
