Oscar Isaac is very, very intelligent guy. Also, he's got a taste in artists. He mentioned Toshiro Mifune, who is one of the greatest actors IMHO.

I think sometimes the Japanese vocabulary is limited, which is why in Japanese culture it is so important to “feel the atmosphere” something I always fail at. But in such a culture, maybe subtle eye movements and mouth twitches become subtle “tells” of a person’s real internal feelings which Mifune must of had and what Oscar Isaac is referencing. Just my off the cuff guess.

I like Zendaya but the difference between her and Timmy is amazing even though they are both young. . He is so much more eloquent, humble, grateful, star struck, intelligent, & mature.. Unfortunately she came from the Disney machine and was told what to say/not say.

The silent and strong as the desert role of Stilgar is a hard role to get, bbut he nailled it. The first scene where he and Leto met came off the way it had to. Leto and Stilgar were equals, if not Stilgar was not going to give a grain of sand. Leto spitting was a key thing and done without affectation either.

interesting to hear Sharon Duncan-Brewster refer to the internet as a great source for finding out more about the book, its characters and their world. Knowing this is in stark contrast to the world she's part of in her role, which is totally without artificial intelligence, makes her referencing the internet, almost a form of blasphemy.

Usually I find these cast wank offs cringe but in this case they all seem so invested and dear, it was a joy to watch! Piter's actor seems to have a very good grasp on the universe. Loved Josh and Skellan. And while I loved the performance of Liet Kynes I think the actress actually has no clue about what dune is about. She seems a bit full of herself.

Timothee come across like a lot of the people in AP classes I grew up with. Zendaya is more typical and unfortunately challenged with her integration I always found unintegrated people annoying. She is a good actor though so maybe she will read some deep books and hang out with some deeper people to get there.

And unfortunately Yueh's role was brought to minimum, such a pity with Chen Chang being an amazing actor. As with the mentats, as with some other iconic scenes. But we had to see Zendaya from 50 different angles in the same scene a countless times instead... Also the movie didn't tell computers are banned.

Dr Liet Kynes was a man as written by Frank Herbert, father of Chani, why didn't Villeneuve respect that fact instead of making such a fundamental and unnecessary change? Villeneuve should have adhered to the author's creation out of respect to the fans too! Ms Duncan-Brewster could have played another role such as the wife of Jamis, or the Shadout Mapes.
