Worldwide polls have been conducted and the results are in: #1. Edda Dell'Orso (The BEST by far and large, no comparison, unsurpassed, unbeatable, the one and only, the original) #2. Susanna Rigacci (2nd best, powerful performer, marvellous voice) #3. Natalia Ushakova (3rd best, very talented but no match for Edda or Susanna) #4. Patricia Janeckova (4th best, powerful voice, promising soprano) All these ladies are very talented, gifted but Edda is the Queen and owns this masterpiece for eternity. Susanna is her successor. By the way polls are not required because it is very clear that Edda is the Queen Master Supreme.

Speaking of In a gadda da vida, I read that a drunken band member of the Iron Butterfly was alone in the recording studio one night and taped a demo. In the morning the rest of the group found the tape and liked it. They polished it off while the drunk slept. They made it into In a gadda da vida. Only when the sobered-up mate came in did they find out that he was simply slurring the words "In The Garden Of Eden"

Edda Dell'Orso is the Italian vocalist in the original score of Ecstasy of Gold. Her voice is fluid and flowing. She hits the very high notes without straining her voice. Other soprano vocalists try to vocalize the same heavenly tones but cannot deliver those very high notes without straining their vocal cords in a feeble attempt to deliver the same sound. There's only one Edda Dell'Orso. There will never be another. She is unsurpassed. Blessings to all.
