The reason for the success of Mira Nair as a versatile movie maker are many . She made and makes movies of Asian Themed stories , multi cultural , of multi religion and ethnic influences because her base was in the US of A . Had she tried to do any of her movies , starting from Salaam Bombay from India her movies would never see the light .May I explain? 2. Her earlier movies was first viewed in Western countries , where people who are open to multi cultural and are multi ethnic wanted to have a *slice of culture NOT more* . The operational word being " slice " . Most of these audiences were immigrants from the upper class who yearned for nostalgia and a fraction of westerners who wanted more culture ! 3. Her movies found recognition where hardly no one was making them of the same kind per se , Salaam Bombay was a complete slice of poverty shown to the west - This was a first glimpse that complete movies were shot in English and viewed in the West . *They were not shown in theatres in India* . Such poverty themed movies found recognition , applause and awards . Telling a story in color is an art and a *story of poverty always catch attention* . 4. As her skills of story telling telling sharpened , and the focus was sharpened , the changing global situation when corporations began to move cross countries for back operations *her movies became a study of " understanding. Culture " for many* ! After all many customer service reps were now from India . 5. Mira Nair can boldly explore a Mulim theme story and nobody will hurl a stone at her because she can leverage the fact that *her husband has an Islamic* name . Thus *her cover is strong* otherwise the Muslim authorities can call a fatwa for any reason and she is covered by the fact that she has a US citizenship which is like having a shield . A strong cover that people who are born here takes it for granted. That goes for Mohid Hasin too otherwise the author would dare not write this story ! 6. Her scriptwriter Soni Taraporewalla from Bombay has been with her from her first movie . Is she still with her ? This scriptwriter deserves a fair share of recognition and applause . It is *Sonis script what helps transform the movie* to what it is along with the art, visuals and direction! 7.Was Mira Nair working out of India on these movies her thoughts of making a movie would only remain in her thoughts . Bollywood is run by a handful , reigned by nepotism, those who make their careers have godfathers and an iron door policy keeps everybody out. . *Where nepotism rules Mira Nair's imaginations would not take wings* Here is an instance : Amir khan blatantly stole the story of 3 idiots from Chetan Bhagats book and did not even recognize him nor pay him a penny . Amir Khan is an a Industry veteran and his father was in the business . *Bollywood boldly plagiarizes and boldly refutes recognition* Did not even have the courtesy of apology either ! America is a great canvas where people who want to dance in the rain will not be scorned* Mira danced. In the snow to make movies and she could do that only because she was in the USA . Thank You US of A Thank You Mira Nair.

*Note to oneself:* The first-ever time I ever heard of Mr Rizwān "Riz" Ahmed and perhaps, even Ms Mīra Nāir. That's why.. I was shocked to know that she also made ‘Kāma Sūtra®’. And what's with her "dictatorial-march"? And FINALLY.. The Google®'s auto-captions get the "love the U S of A" line.

Fawad was supposed to be the lead in this very movie ! Somehow, it didn’t work out and he was replaced by the equally talented Riz (if not more so). And ! he was given the news of this replacement, on his birthday !!
